With this precursor, two different crosslinked networks can be produced. A polyacrylate network can be produced using a radiation-cure mechanism while a polysiloxane network can be produced by hydrolysis and condensation reactions involving the trimethoxysilane groups. The objective of the study was to determine the utility of this dual-cure system for generating rapid-cure coatings for corrosion protection. Coating properties were determined as a function of cure conditions. The results of the study showed that the formation of siloxane crosslinks was significantly hindered by the crosslinked network induced by the UV-curing process. Even though the overall conversion of trimethoxysilane groups to siloxane crosslinks was relatively low, coating barrier properties were significantly enhanced and coating free volume reduced. At ambient conditions, additional crosslinking occurring through siloxane bond formation increased within the first 4 days after UV-curing. Beyond this period, siloxane bond formation remained unchanged as did coating properties. Note de contenu : - Materials

Réticulation (polymérisation)Index. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Hyperbranched polamine has been prepared by an A2 + B3 approach using cyanuric chloride and diamine. This hyperbranched polyamine has been used to cure commercially available bisphenol-A base epoxy and a vegetable oil based epoxy resin at different dose levels (10-30 phr) with and without commercial poly(amido amine) hardener. The drying time, hardness, impact and chemical resistance of the cured epoxy resins have been investigated. The studies on morphology, thermostability and flame retardancy of cured films indicate the unifor distribution of different phases, high thermostability (up to 250°C) and seld extinguishing characteristics respectively. Results show that these hyperbranched polyamines could be used for epoxy resins as a potential agent for curing. The performance characteristics as coating materials are also improved by this active agent. All resutls obtained from this studied are be presented in this paper. Dynamic mechanical analysis can be used to measure transition temperatures of epoxies, including the primary transition : the glass transition temperature. Secondary transitions can provide additional insights into the structure property of epoxies. Note de contenu : - Materials and methods

Réticulation (polymérisation)Index. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Nowadays, coating systems have to fulfill a wide range of requirements. In addition to mechanical properties such as hardness and elasticity, resistance and weatherability, specifically corrosion or chemical resistance are also important. Increasing attention is also being paid to points such as the use of sustainable reactants or the energy optimization of synthesis processes.1 The use of enzymes in the synthetic processes offers two main advantages: firstly, reaction temperatures can be significantly reduced, for example in the production of polyesters, and as a result and a major advantage, certain functional groups can be selectively retained during the reaction.2,3 Thus, for example, aromatic hydroxyl groups can be obtained, while aliphatic groups are esterified.4,5 This allows the preparation of polyesters that do not only have terminal OH groups, but hydroxyl groups within the chain that can act as additional crosslinking points during network formation or as adhesion-promoting groups.6,7 In this work, the influence of such an aliphatic–aromatic polyester, produced enzymatically at low temperatures, on the coating properties is investigated when using different hardener components. Coating formulations were created, and the required OH functionality and the hydroxyl number of the enzymatic polyester have been calculated by using two different, independent methods. Besides the development of guide formulations, the unique mechanical properties of coatings based on the enzymatic polyester were studied. In addition to comparative analysis of network densities, the coatings were also investigated by IR spectroscopy in order to assess the network formation reaction spectroscopically. It can be shown that additional OH groups in the polyester chain increase the network density, but this is not at the expense of elasticity. Thus, enzymatically produced polyesters combine the advantages of low reaction temperatures during production with a unique property profile due to aliphatic and aromatic moieties as well as the partial preservation of OH groups within the chain.
