StatistiquesIndex. décimale : 675.2 Préparation du cuir naturel. Tannage Résumé : A proficiency testing scheme (CNAS PT0038-PT-201802) for the determination of hexavalent chromium in leather was organised in China. The test materials were prepared by adding a tanning agent containing hexavalent chromium to a blank sheepskin during the retanning process. The retanning was identical to the real production process to assure the representation of the test materials. Homogeneity and stability indicated that the test materials were suitable for the proficiency testing samples. The assigned values of test materials for proficiency assessment were derived directly front the reported results of laboratories, and the measurement performance for determining hexavalent chromium in leather were assessed using robust z-scores. This PT program is necessary and useful to help the laboratories to comply with quality assurance requirements and improve the detection level. Réseaux neuronaux (informatique)Index. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : The leather industry is a traditional manufacturing industry with a long history in China. In recent years, the output of China's leather industry has jumped to the first place in the world, but some problems have appeared in the rapid development.' The most serious one is the ecological environment problem, which has already seriously hindered the healthy and rapid development of China's social economy.
In this paper, we focus on the evaluation of leather ecosystem. The evaluation indexes are set up for the sub-systems of leather's ecological natural system, leather's ecological economic system and leather's ecological social system. The BP neural network optimised by a Bayesian algorithm is introduced to evaluate the leather ecosystem. The grade of leather's ecological status in the last ten years is analysed to find the problems and put forward corresponding suggestions.
The study found that the leather ecosystem had a strong self-regulation ability. Since China is a developing country, the pursuit of economic benefits is more important and urgent than the pursuit of ecological benefits, and it is difficult to realise the ideal state of the leather ecosystem at present.Note de contenu : - A brief introduction to China's leather industry

Résistances aux antibiotiquesIndex. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : Antimicrobial activities of 16 different antibiotics against 47 Gram-negative bacteria isolated from salted skin samples were examined by Kirby-Bauer disc diffusion method. In the present study 10 strains isolated from 6 salted goatskin samples belonging to Russia, South Africa, Bulgaria, Australia, and 37 strains isolated from 14 salted sheepskin samples belonging to Greece, Australia, Bulgaria, South Africa, Israel, USA, Turkey were used as test strains. Susceptibilities of Halomonas venusta, Halomonas zhanjiangensis, Chromohalobacter beijerinckii, Halomonas alkaliphila, Halomonas eurihalina, Chromohalobacter israelensis, Halomonas halodenitrificans, Halomonas halmophila, Chromohalobacter canadensis, Chromohalobacter japonicus, ldiomarina loihiensis against amikacin, gentamicin, tobramycin, cefadroxil were not detected. In addition, susceptibilities of Halomonas eurihalina, Chromohalobacter israelensis and Chromohalobacter beijerinckii against sulfamethoxazole-trimethoprim and ampicillin ; aztreonam and ampicillin ; ampicillin-sulbactann and ampicillin were not observed, respectively. Although inhibition zones of Halomonas halodenitrificans (15-20mm), Halomonas halmophila (10-15mm), Chromohalobacterjaponicus (22-23mm), Idiomarina loihiensis (15mm) against ampicillin were detected, the other strains did not show any inhibition zones. All test strains were susceptible to the other antibiotics such as chloramphenicol, meropenem, imipenem, cefoxitin, cefuroxime, ceftriaxone, amoxycillin/clavulanic acid and piperacillin/tazobactam. All strains except Halomonas eurihalina were found to be susceptible to sulfamethoxazole-trimethoprim. The experimental results of this study demonstrated that 38%, 36%, 26% of the Gram-negative bacterial species isolated from salted sheep and goat skins were resistant against 31%, 25%, 38% of the antibiotics tested. Therefore, effective antibacterial applications should be applied in curing salt to kill multidrug resistant moderately halophilic Gram-negative bacterial species in leather industry.
PhotocatalyseIndex. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : Titanium dioxide (Ti02) is well known for its photocatalytic capabilities, and its applications coverl different areas, such as wastewater treatment, sunscreen and ultraviolet (UV) blocking, among others. Its application as a photocatalytic additive for self-cleaning properties has been reported with different substrates, resulting in stain degradation. As such, the goal of this work was to functionalise two types of nubuck leather, conferring on them self-cleaning properties. For this purpose, two photocatalytic materials were tested: a commercial TiO2 (Degussa P25 Ti02) and Si02@Ti02 nanoparticles, which were applied onto leather surfaces by a spray coating technique. The hydrophilic behaviour of these two types of nubuck leather was determined by contact angle (CA) measurement, using the sessile drop technique. The finished samples of nubuck leather were characterized by measuring their diffuse reflectance. The self-cleaning properties of finished nubuck leather samples were evaluated through their ability to photodegrade an organic stain, rhodamine-B dye. The P25 TiO2 and Si02@TiO2 particles did not provide self-cleaning properties for the two types of nubuck leather, indicating the need for more in-depth research on the use of these particles for self-cleaning purposes. StatistiquesIndex. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : Bamboo shavings, a waste of bamboo processing, contain many active groups and have excellent potential for the preparation of a biomass adhesive. In this study, under the catalysis of phenol and sulfuric acid, bamboo shavings are subjected to microwave treatment. The bamboo fibres are degraded and liquefied into a solid and liquid mixture (as a native putty of adhesive). The composite adhesive is prepared by mixing degraded collagen (Co) with the degradation mixture and cross-linking with epichlorohydrin.
Some key quality indexes of plywoods such as the bonding strength, the modulus of rupture (MOR) and the modulus of elasticity (MOE) of prepared plywoods meet the quality index requirements of plywood (GB/T 9846-2015, China). Experimental analysis shows that the good bonding properties correlated well with 5-hydroxymethylfurfural (5-HMF) in the bamboo degradation liquid and the Maillard reaction of collagen degradation bonds between the polar groups.Note de contenu : - EXPERIMENTAL PROCEDURES : Materials - Liquefaction procedure - Study of the reaction of Co with MCC (microcrystalline cellulose) - Preparation of the composite adhesive - Basic properties testing of the BSL-co adhesive - Preparation of the plywood - Bonding strength tests - Mechanical properties tests

Tannage Résumé : Microwave power is an effective and energy-saving heating resource. When microwave power is used to assist in leather making, the leather always shows better performances. In order to apply microwave in chrome tanning further and explain the detailed effects of microwave in the process, the hide powder chrome tanning process was warmed by water bath heating (WB) and microwave irradiation (MW). After tanning, the pH, conductivity, dielectric constant and chrome content of tanning effluents were tested. Meanwhile, DSC, TG, FTIR and XPS were used to determine the thermal behaviours, collagen conformation and product structure of chrome tanned hide powders.
Through comparing the similarities and differences between WB and MW samples, the results showed that the pH and chrome content of WB effluents were larger than those from MW while the conductivity and dielectric constants were smaller. On aspects of chrome-tanned hide powders, MW samples had higher Cr203 content, denaturation temperature and enthalpy as well as better thermal resistance. However, the collagen's fundamental structure, conformation and pattern of combination between collagen and chromium for MW samples were almost same as for WB. In sum, both a thermal effect and a non-thermal effect existed when microwave power was used as heating resource in chrome tanning, and both promoted the tanning process and other effects together.
The higher chrome exhaustion, better thermal behaviour of products was achieved under microwave irradiation and caused by non-thermal effect without any negative effect on leather structure or changes to the tanning mechanism. The achievements in the work might be an important hint and reference for applying microwave power in chrome tanning to diminish pollution and in improving leather properties.Note de contenu : - EXPERIMENTAL PROCEDURES : Materials - Tanning processes - Determination methods - Hide powder chrome content measurement

Surfaces -- AnalyseIndex. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : A statistical analysis of the results of leather softness testing has indicated that there is a correlation between sensory evaluation scores and results of objective instrumental measurement. The tests were carried out by using 7 leather specimens, of which one was aldehyde-based syntan treated, while others were chrome tanned, and all the leathers were grain finished. Sensory evaluation of leather softness was performed by using the ranking method and the multiple ordering method with the participation of 70 panelists (judges). Based on calculated value of Kendall's W a moderate agreement among rates was found. Instrumental softness measurements on the same specimens were carried out according to a standardised leather softness assessment method with a softness tester. The value of the Spearman's rank correlation coefficient equal to 0.893 indicates a strong positive correlation between the results of the score assessment and instrumental measurements. A slightly weaker correlation, but still considered strong, equal to 0.821 was found between the results of the multiple ordering method and instrumental measurements.
