Tannage Résumé : The biodegradability of typical organic tanning agents, including aromatic syntans, aldehydic tanning agents and acrylic tanning agents, were investigated. The results showed that the biodegradation behaviours of these leather chemicals are closely associated with their chemical structures, molecular weights and compositions. Therefore, different organic tanning agents might result in different environmental impacts even though they belong to the same type of tanning agent. The four aromatic syntans tested exhibited low biodegradability in general. Among them, a phenol-based syntan was not biodegradable and the phenol-sulphone based syntan produced a strong inhibitory effect on respiration of activated sludge. Comparatively, the naphthalene-based syntan was somewhat easier to biodegrade than other aromatic syntans. In the cases of aldehydic tanning agents, both formaldehyde and glutaraldehyde were not biodegradable and were toxic to organisms in activated sludge. Thus, they are potential inhibitors to biodegradation of other organic compounds in wastewater. However, an aliphatic aldehydic tanning agent was biodegradable and showed no toxicity to microorganisms in activated sludge. As for acrylic tanning agents, results indicated that commercial anionic products do not have any negative effect on biodegradation activity of activated sludge but they themselves were hardly biodegraded. Whereas, cationic acrylic tanning agents have the potential to inhibit the activated sludge process when presented at a high concentration. Note de contenu : - Biodegradability of aromatic syntans

Produits de nourriture du cuirIndex. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : In the treatment of tannery wastewater, other chemical agents such as tannins and fatliquors may possibly have an influence on bio-decolourization of dyes, few researchers have addressed that problem. This paper reports how four kinds of commercial fatliquors influence the bio-decolourization of an azo dye (Acid Fuchsin 6B as the experimentat object) and expounds the mechanisms of these influence processes. it was obvious that the addition of sulfonated fatliquor and oxidized-sulfited fatliquor have improved the bio-decolourization activity of Acid Fuchsin 66, by contrary, the bio-decolourization of the dye has been stopped virtually by the addition of Lecithin based fatiguer and Phosphoric esters fatliquor. The paper used LC/MS to analyze and quantify metabolites of the dye in various substrates. The results certify that a stimulation of degradation products of these fatliquors on the breaking of the azo linkage contributes to the improvement of the bio-decolourization of the azo dye. And according to the correlation coefficient of the poly-?-hydroxybutyrate production with the residual concentrations of the dye, the inhibition of the fatliquors with phosphate groups on the bio-decolourization is directly due to the formation of the poly?-p-hydroxybutyrate. Tannage au chromeIndex. décimale : 675.2 Préparation du cuir naturel. Tannage Résumé : The recycling of leather solid waste has become a key issue aimed at realising the sustainable development of the leather industry. Recently, more and more attention has been paid on the recycling of limed fleshings. In this paper, a new recycling method for limed fleshings is reported. First, collagen protein hydrolysate (CH) was obtained by hydrolysing limed fleshings under alkaline conditions, and then the CHwas modified with cyanuric chloride (TCT) to obtain a high exhaustion chrome auxiliary (HECA). The coordination of HECA with chromium salts was investigated by ultraviolet-visible (UV-Vis) spectrum. HECA was applied in the chrome tanning process as an additive. The chrome concentration in effluent, the shrinkage temperature and mechanical properties of the resultant wet-blue were determined. Thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and X-ray diffraction (XRD) were used to analyse the properties of the obtained leather. The results show that HECA could coordinate with chromium salts and significantly improved the absorption and fixation of chrome salt into leather. When the amount of chrome tanning agent was 5% and the amount of HECA was 3%, the uptake of chrome tanning agent could be increased to 92.42%, the shrinkage temperature (Ts) of wet-blue leather could reach 102.8°C, the relative increases being 27.26% and 7.3°C, respectively, compared with the conventional tanning process. The obtained wet-blue leather demonstrated uniform grain, good fullness and improved mechanical properties. This recycling method provides a valuable insight of developing high exhaustion chrome tanning aid from limed fleshings, and consequently increases the economic and environmental benefits in leather production. TomographieIndex. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : In this work, a novel cationic fatliquoring agent YI-1 was prepared by two steps. Firstly, a cationic emulsifier YW based on fatty acid triethanolamine ester was synthesized by using stearic acid, triethanolamine and benzyl chloride. Then, YH was obtained by mixing a certain amount of YW, non-ionic surfactant and neutral oil. The composition of YH was optimized by its application behaviour as a fatliquor. The structure of YW was characterised by infrared spectroscopy and H-NMR. The surface tension of YW aqueous solution was determined by using a surface tension meter. The stability, particle size and zeta potential of YH were studied. The results show that YH exhibits high centrifugal stability and electrolyte resistance with an average particle size of 24.44nm and zeta potential of 60.8mV at pl-14.5. The leather samples treated by YH show high softness, tensile strength and tear strength. When YH was used as a dye-fixing agent, it could promote the absorption and fixation of anionic dyestuff, and improve the dry/wet fastness of leather and the colour fastness of washing.
