The terminal groups have been either benzoates, propionates, or hydroxyls. The glass transition (Tg) and viscosity of the resins have been shown to depend on the polarity of the end groups. The increase in viscosity gives the hydroxy functional resin the highest viscosity, while the propionate functional resin has the lowest Tg and viscosity. The acrylates are all free radically UV cured with little or no oxygen inhibition found. The residual unsaturation in the cured films is not detectable with Raman spectroscopy, i.e., less than five percent. The cured films are all hard with a Tg difference varying with the structure of terminal groups in the resins.

The aim was to reduce the NMA content and the formation of free formaldehyde from pigment printing pastes by employing newly synthesized core-/shell-type polymers. After five washing cycles, the synthesized core-/shell-type polymer including 1% NMA in the core and 1% NMA in the shell with T g values +30°C and −20°C, respectively, with lowest total NMA content (1.03%) yielded the best result and showed closest ΔE values to the commercially available polymer including 4% NMA. Dry and wet rubbing fastness results showed no significant changes in the absence of NMA when compared with NMA containing samples. The penetration degree of the pigment pastes of the corresponding polymers was relatively higher on 100% cotton fabric for both red- and blue-colored pigments. A negligible decrease in color strength has been observed for all polymers when colored in red. ThermogravimétrieIndex. décimale : 667.3 Teinture et impression des tissus Résumé : A core‐shell acrylate binder for pigment printing containing acetoacetoxyethyl methacrylate (AAEM) in its shell was synthesised via semicontinuous seeded emulsion polymerisation. Self‐crosslinking occurs when curing at low temperatures without releasing formaldehyde. The core‐shell structure of the binder produces prints with a high block resistance and good film‐forming properties, which can avoid clogging the screens during the printing process and help to acquire a soft handle for textiles. Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) analysis demonstrated that the latex particle had a core‐shell structure of size ca. 120 nm. Differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) testing showed that polyacrylate (PA)‐modified AAEM exhibited two apparent Tg, providing further information about the formation of the soft core‐hard shell latex particles. Crosslinking degree tests, thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) and testing of the mechanical properties indicated that self‐crosslinking of AAEM took place at 100 °C, thereby enhancing the thermostability and mechanical properties of the latex films. The softer and non‐stick handle, excellent rubbing fastness, and higher K/S were obtained by further padding the printed fabric with amino silicon softener. The chemical structures of the surfaces of the printed fabrics were studied by Fourier Transform‐infrared (FTIR), and results confirmed that the crosslinking reaction between the amino of the softener and remaining acetoacetoxy functional group (AcAc) of AAEM had taken place. Polymérisation en émulsionIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Wood has the potential to be a competitive and sustainable material. However, for outdoor use it is necessary to enhance its performance and long-term durability. The main problem is its high sensitivity to UV degradation. It is common knowledge that light affects wood, causing colour change and/or degradation of the surface. Note de contenu : - NANOPARTICLE ENCAPSULATION MINIMISE AGGREGATION
