(Wikipedia)

Well-distinct microcapsules with polyurea as a shell were prepared by reacting hexamethylene diisocyanate trimer with 0.0 G polyamidoamine (PAMAM) via interfacial polymerization technique. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopic analysis was performed to elucidate the chemical structure of microcapsules as well as to confirm successful encapsulation of core by the polyurea shell. Surface morphology, particle size, distribution of particle size, thermal, and mechanical properties of the prepared PAMAM-based polyurea microcapsules were compared with microcapsules that were prepared using diethylenetriamine (DETA) and triethylenetetramine (TETA). The prepared microcapsules were embedded with acrylic polyol-based polyurethane (PU) coatings to ensure anticorrosive performance. The immersion study of self-healing PU coatings loaded with 5% PAMAM-based polyurea microcapsules possesses satisfactory anticorrosive property under an accelerated corrosion process in 5% NaCl salt solution. Various self-stratifying systems have been reported in the literature, but self-stratifying coatings containing three pigments have rarely been discussed. In this paper, a series of self-stratifying coatings based on an epoxy-PU system and containing three pigments, i.e. zinc dust, micaceous iron oxide (MIO) and titanium dioxide (TiO2) were prepared and applied on glass plates. Stratification was studied and evaluated by Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy using Attenuated Total Reflectance (FTIR-ATR) on both sides of the films. Scanning Electron Microscopy with Energy Dispersive X-ray Spectroscopy (SEM-EDX) analyses and mappings with line scans from cross-sections of the films were carried out to characterise the degree of stratification and the location of the pigments. The aim of this research is to study the factors that affect stratification and the location of the pigments in self-stratifying coatings containing three pigments, and leading to the design of a three-layered self-stratifying epoxy-PU anti-corrosive coating system. It was found that a higher solid percent of epoxy resin has a positive effect on stratification and pigment location. It was also found that better stratification was obtained by replacing some of the xylene in a formulation with a solvent with a higher evaporation rate (butyl acetate). Spectroscopie d'impédance électrochimiqueIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Special nanocontainers, micro- and nanocapsules can be incorporated in an anticorrosive primer formulation to provide self-healing properties that take effect as soon as the primer is mechanically damaged. As the matrix continuity and the interfaces are affected, we cannot fully evaluate the performance of such 'self-healing' primers by eye. Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) combined with thermocyclic electrolytic loading (TEL) contributes significantly to evaluating such systems. Directo-to-metal coatings (DTM) are single layer coatings that are applied on metal substrates and required to provide good protection against corrosion, as well as an aesthetic function, involving not only colour but often also high gloss. These coatings are widely used in the light industrial and Do It Yoursel (DIY)/decorative market segments, where emphasis on the environment has increased in recent years. Aware of the need to fulfil these three requirements (anticorrosive protection, aesthetic function and 'green' profile), Nubiola offers its zinc-free Nubirox 300 series for the development of water-based DTM coatings.Note de contenu : - The requirements for DTM coatings
