Pulvérisation cathodiqueIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Cathodic Electro Deposition (CED) has been relied upon as the sole coat for corrosion resistance primer for automotive body shells since its invention in the late 1960s. Car bodies that are warranted for corrosion resistance for 12 + years often use CED as a primer with confidence.
CED is formulated with a base resin of water-based epoxy due to its excellent corrosion-resistant properties. Parts to be coated are immersed in a CED bath/tank, and CED is applied by passing a direct current across the part to be coated (cathode) and anodes installed in the bath. As deposition is driven by the flow of electrons (current), paint is deposited wherever current density is available. This enables primer to be coated on the innermost parts, corners, and crevices.
