These products provide paints with improved rheology compared to those paint systems thickened through a non-associative thickening mechanism. Nevertheless, the rheology requirements for high gloss emulsion paints are more severe and have led to the development of a new generation of cellulose ether-based associative thickeners. This paper describes the formulating variables wich shouls be considered when using these low molecular associative cellulose ethers in gloss emulsion paints. Diebold, Auteur Année de publication : 1995 Article en page(s) : p. 294-299 Note générale : Bibliogr. Langues : Anglais (eng) Tags : Peinture 'Dégradation photochimique' Feuil 'Pigment minéral' 'Titane oxyde' Prévention Durabilité TiO2 Index. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : The photocatalytic degradation mechanism relies on many reactants en intermediates-UV radiation, oxygen, water, the electron and electron hole, various radical species and binder itself. In principe, any process which prevents one of these species from forming or reacting will increase paint durability. Some of these preventive measures are controlled during paint manufacture (for exemple, selection of binder type, the addition of radical scavengers and/or UV absorbers, and the use of UV absorbing clear coats). Others are considered in this report.
There are many ways which a pigment can be modified to diminish photocatalytic activity. These techniques can be divided into two broad categories : those which prevent electrons and/or electron holes from reaching the TiO3 surface and those which prevent the surface electron and electron holes from reacting to form radicals. Despite the large number of techniques available, only a few are effective, and fewer yet are used for commercial pigment production.
Electrons and/or electron holes can be kept from the TiO2 surface by preventing their formation or by immobilizing those which do form. We will begin by considering the former.Note de contenu : - General
