Titre : Controlling method for UV-curing processes : A method for the end user Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Hans-Peter Seng, Auteur Année de publication : 1998 Article en page(s) : p. 838-841 Note générale : Bibliogr. Langues : Anglais (eng) Tags : Peinture Durcissement 'Irradiation UV' Contrôle 'Mobilité ion' Spectrométrie Index. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : There is a wide range of analysis techniques available for the determination of the through-curing of UV-curable coatings. But all these highly sophisticated methods can only be performed by specialists. Especially, quality assurance departments are looking for a method that can be applied as directly as possible in-line, in the coating and printing process, and which is in particular easy to handle. The ion mobility spectrometry can be regarded as such a method as this article shows. Besides describing this method examples are given on its use in different printing processes. Langues : Anglais (eng) Tags : 'Matériau revêtement' Lasure Adjuvant 'Absorbant UV' 'Titane Oxyde' 'Particule ultrafine' TiO2 Index. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : This article demonstrates that for the nano-TiO2 particles the authors have developed, stains can be loaded up to about 5% without significantly altering the transparency. This level is also sufficient to attain a good UV filter effect. For both alkyd and acrylic stains, at a level of 5% nano-TiO2 wood grays more slowly than with a UV absorber, and the products can be expected to last much longer. To describe resin degradation caused by the direct photochemical activity of the resin and by TiO2-induced photocatalysis, the authors have developed a simple model which is given in the appendix.
Once the various constants of the mathematical model had been determined, the model was tested to see how well it would predict the impact of the nano-TiO2 level, the photocatalytic activity of the nano-TiO2 and the properties of the resin.Note de contenu : - Description of experimental techniques : Stain formulations - Preparation of fee film stains and coating of wood panels - Photocatalytic activity of nano-TiO2 - Spectrophotometric characterization - Ageing experiments - Measurement of film photo-oxidation rate

The drying times of the two paint systems have been compared at 23°C and at 6°C. The effect of storage on the drying times of the two systems has also been examined. Additionally, the effect of TiO2 surface area and inorganic coating on drying has been investigated. Schmitz, Auteur Année de publication : 1998 Article en page(s) : p. 856-858 Note générale : Bibliogr. Langues : Anglais (eng) Tags : 'Peinture eau' 'Pigment minéral' 'Titane Oxyde' 'Dispersion aqueuse Stabilité TiO2 Index. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Stabilization of aqueous dispersions of a rutile titanium dioxide pigment (TiO2) by water-soluble non-ionic polymers and combinations of these polymers with ionic polymers or with anionic surfactants was studied. The data on the sedimentation behaviour of TiO2 dispersions in aqueous solutions shows that poly (vinyl methyl acetamide) (PVMA), poly (i-propyl acrylamide) (PiPAA) slightly increase dispersion stability at the early stages and then flocculation of pigment occurs. Complementary data on the dispersion stabilization with polymers obtained when studying accumulation of the dispersion sediment onto the cup of a torsion balance are shown. From those data effective particle radii were calculated. It was shown that in the presence of poly (vinylcaprolactame) (PVCL) the effective particle radius i.e. degree of agglomeration is considerably decreased that means stabilization of the dispersion.
