Note de contenu : - Preparation and characterization of CAX and FA-CAX - Monosaccharide composition - Molecular weight distribution of CAX and FA-CAX - NMR spectroscopy - UV spectroscopy and photostability of FA-CAX - Effect of scavenging DPPH radicals - Antioxydant activity analysis in inhibiting lipid peroxidation DOI : 10.1111/ics.12281 En ligne : http://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/ics.12281 Format de la ressource électronique : Permalink : https://e-campus.itech.fr/pmb/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=26381

Traîtements de surfaceIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Printed functional materials are a rapidly growing area of interest for low-cost high-speed device manufacture with flexographic printing seen as a route to achieving this. The relationship between surface tension of the ink and surface free energy (SFE) of the photopolymer plate is a key for optimum performance. However, traditional methods of surface tension modification of the ink/coating often cannot be employed for functional inks. In this research, rapid, permanent modification of flexographic printing plate’s SFE is achieved through controlled UV-ozone treatment, and the effects of the treatment on the polar and dispersive component of SFE are analyzed by Fourier transform infrared attenuated total reflectance spectroscopy, swelling experiments, and roughness measurements. Printing trials using the modified printing plates reveal improved print uniformity and control of deposited ink layer thickness, as well as improved print features—particularly track and pad junctions which can be problematic for printed electronic applications. The ability to rapidly tailor printing plate SFE is of benefit to all volume printing applications. Furthermore, it is of critical importance for functional printing and printed electronics where surface tension of the ink is determined by the functional material and chemical modification is not possible or desirable. Rayonnement ultravioletIndex. décimale : 668.5 Parfums et cosmétiques Résumé : Meta-analyses of observational case-control studies have demonstrated no protective benefit of sunscreens and the development of malignant melanoma. Given the period during which the case-control studies were conducted, the sunscreens prevalent at that time, and how suncreen is used and applied in practice, it is not surprising that these studies failed to find any association between their use and the risk of melanoma. Modern high SPF, broad spectrum sunscreens, on the other hand, can be expected to be an effective measure in helping to prevent melanoma compared with sunscreens typical of those used 10 to 20 years ago. It is reasonable to suppose that the improvement in performance of modern sunscreens will lead to a worthwhile benefit as a preventative agent against melanoma, although these benefits may not be seen for several decades. SérigraphieIndex. décimale : 667.3 Teinture et impression des tissus Résumé : In this paper, titanium-dioxide-pigmented printing pastes of water-borne, UV-curable polyurethane acrylate binder with two different UV-curing photoinitiator combinations were prepared and screen printed on a black t-shirt fabric. The effects of mercury and gallium radiation sources employed either singly or in combination for UV curing and the total energy level on the printing performance were investigated. The cured textile samples were subjected to colour measurements before and after five cycles of washing, and hiding power and changes in chromacity, hue, and colour were determined. Single-lamp applications of mercury and gallium were not satisfactory, and opaque pigment hindered deep curing, especially at thicker coating levels. It was found that employment of a mercury–gallium lamp system applying an irradiation at medium level can provide pigment printing of opaque white inks with excellent coverage, washing resistance, and medium hardness.
(Wikipedia)

Stabilisants à la lumièreIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Waterborne ultra violet (UV)-curable coatings have been developed to replace conventional UV-curable coatings to lower VOC content. Due to fast-drying and short processing time, UV-curable coatings are widely used in various industries. However, there are two major challenges : The first one is discolouration after long-term exposure to sunlight ; the other is to keep the ability of UV filtering, since waterborne UV-curable coatings are usually applied to the surface as a protective top coat.
The novel light stabiliser (NLS) has been developed specifically for waterborne UV-curable coatings. Design of Experiment (DOE) was used in the study. Test data showed that the designed NLS would not interfere with the curing speed of the tested clear waterborne UV-curable coating system. Moreover, the results confirmed that increasing the concentration of NLS could enhance the UV filtering ability and weatherability of the tested clear top coat more effectively than by increasing the coating thickness : At 365nm wavelength, the effect factor of NLS is 62.5%, while DFT (dry film thickness) is 20.9% ; at 380nm, the effect factor of NLS is 47.7%, while DFT is only 27.4%. The test results confirmed the designed NLS could block the UV light without compromising the UV-curing speed and is suitable for enhancing the weatherability and protection ability of the clear waterborne UV-curable coatings.Note de contenu : - EXPERIMENT : Materials - Equipment - Methods
