Industrie cosmétique -- Législation -- Etats-UnisIndex. décimale : 668.5 Parfums et cosmétiques Résumé : US health regulator The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has warned that antibacterial ingredients in soaps may pose health risks.
The FDA has proposed a rule requiring manufacturers to prove soaps making antibacterial claims are safe and more effective against infection than plain soap and water. This new FDA proposal is based on recent scientific studies indicating an ingredient in such products could scramble hormone levels and build the capacity of bacteria to become resistant to antibiotics.
The proposal does not apply to hand sanitisers, mouthwash or other anti-bacterial medicinal products. According to the FDA, manufacturers have until the end of 2014 to submit the results of clinical trials on their products, with its aim being to finalise and implement the new regulations in 2016.Note de contenu : - No more effective than plain soap and water ?

Industrie cosmétique -- Législation -- Pays de l'Union EuropéenneIndex. décimale : 668.5 Parfums et cosmétiques Résumé : In July last year a major new EU Regulation came into force on the management and transparency of cosmetics product information, which has big implications for any brand marketing its products in Europe. So what is involved in achieving compliance ?
Just as the pharmaceutical industry is beset by a whole raft of complex and demanding regulations which are becoming more stringent ail the time, so too is the cosmetics industry coming under ever greater scrutiny. As of July 11 lest year, a new EU Directive has come into force which clamps down on the way cosmetic products are brought to market across the European Union. It affects how their manufacturing and promotional activities are managed and monitored, and how information is reported. The resulting demands on cosmetics companies are considerable. Although penalties for non-compliance have still to be laid down by each member state, there are certain to be implications for any brand that does not get its house in order fairly sharply.
The new regulation, Regulation (EC) No 1223/2009, follows the enactment of European Parliament and Council guidelines set out in November 2009 governing the sale of cosmetic products in Europe. As of 11 July 2013, the new regulation has replaced the previous Cosmetics Directive, which had allowed cosmetic products to circulate freely across EU countries while ensuring a high level of protection for consumers.
The provisions of the new, improved Regulation are intended to ensure that consumers' health is protected and that customers are well informed, through the ability to monitor the composition and labelling of products more closely. The Regulation also provides for the assessment of product safety and the prohibition of animal testing. (A summary of the new legislation can be found on the Europa website at: www.europa.eu/ legislation_summaries/consumers/ product—labelling and_packaging/ co0013_en.htm).Note de contenu : - Slow reaction

Stress, pollution and hair styling techniques all serve to lessen the quality of people's hair leaving it dull, damaged and lifeless. There is a clear need for easy to use hair products that can rectify these problems.
Hair is a vital part of a person's image, indicating many aspects of an individual's personality: from profession to music taste, as well as their general health. With working hours extending and more and more people living in megacities, hair care products have to be formulated that reflect the time-starved city-dwellers that use them.
In recent times hair products have gone beyond the traditional areas of shampoo, conditioner, and styling, as active ingredients are now showing efficacy for hair regeneration and growth delaying. In addition the overwhelming anti-ageing trend that has dominated skin care for years is now making its presence felt in hair care products.
Following is a selection of some of the latest ingredients available for use in hair products, from styling to hair regeneration.Note de contenu : - Hair care

Tests d'efficacitéIndex. décimale : 668.5 Parfums et cosmétiques Résumé : The market segment 'natural cosmetics' still shows strong growth in the personal care market all over the world. Nowadays, consumers are increasingly showing high expectation for personal care products. To date, the classic hair conditioner segment is still lacking real natural solutions to meet consumer needs in this area.
The demand for high performance natural hair care conditioners can now be fulfilled by Plantaquat NC — a novel
innovative conditioner base developed by BASE It consists solely of renewable and biodegradable raw materials and serves the trend NeoGreen — natural-based hair care with no compromise on performance.
In this paper, a comprehensive hair conditioning performance evaluation including salon hair tests was carried out and the result showed that Plantaquat NC offers very good conditioning, volume and hair breakage protection on the
level of market benchmarks. The deposition and distribution of active substance, i.e. lecithin on treated hair was characterised by using ToF-SIMS (Time-to-flight of Secondary Ion Mass Spectrometry) imaging. Furthermore, Inverse Gas Chromatography was utilised to confirm that the deposition of Plantaquat NC onto hair partially recovers the hair hydrophobicity by increasing the Disperse Surface Energy to a level similar to hair treated with cetrimonium chloride.Note de contenu : - PREPARATION OF TEST FORMULATION

SéborrhéeIndex. décimale : 668.5 Parfums et cosmétiques Résumé : Saponin rich extracts of the Chilean soapbark tree Quillaja saponaria were traditionally used by the Mapuche lndians for washing and for medical practices. Intense research in recent decades has further proven the applicability of quillaja extracts in food, feedstock and pharma. Due to their exceptional ability as a non-irritant tensioactive, quillaja extracts are widely used in cosmetics as a cleanser, foaming agent, emulsifier and dispersing agent, but its objective efficacy as a bioactive in skin treatment was never studied. Thus the aim of this study was to confirm the property of quillaja saponins to improve the condition of sensitive, greasy and acne-prone skin. Several objective dermatological evaluations, instrumental measures and self perception of subjects confirmed that the quillaja extract is a mild cosmetic active ingredient that helps normalise
seborrhoea and significantly improves the complexion of acne-prone skin.
Desert King and its production affiliate, Natural Response, have worked with the Chilean National Forest Organization (CONAF) to pioneer the establishment of quillaja plantations and biomass supply. This reduces pressure on native forests and helps increase tree distribution, ensuring a durable supply for the quillaja saponin market for years to come. Quillaja saponins are extracted with an all-natural water process (no chemicals involved).En ligne : https://drive.google.com/file/d/1dbFyh9hPiwZIbwa1y6Oma2BF00Dg7j62/view?usp=drive [...] Format de la ressource électronique : Permalink : https://e-campus.itech.fr/pmb/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=20468

Vitamine CIndex. décimale : 668.5 Parfums et cosmétiques Résumé : In cosmetic products, ascorbic acid derivatives are widely used, because of the instability of ascorbic acid (AsA) (called vitamin C as its alias). As a new nonionic and amphiphilic ascorbic-acid derivative, 2-glyceryl-3-octyl ascorbate (GO-VC), which is synthesised by introducing an octyl and a glyceryl group into ascorbic acid structure, has been recently developed. Due to its unique chemical structure, in addition to the effects of AsA, GO-VC is expected to have a humectant effect derived from glycerin and an anti-bacterial property derived from octanol, and also is highly likely to have a fibroblast activation ability, and a melanogenesis-suppressing and skin pore and wrinkle improving effect. GO-VS's safety tests, which include a human skin-sensitivity test [repeat insult patch test (RIPT)], ocular irritation test [bovine corneal opacity and permeability (BCOP) assay], genetic toxicity (Ames test), and clinical human skin patch test, have been performed, confirming the safety of GO-VC. Vieillissement cutané -- PréventionIndex. décimale : 668.5 Parfums et cosmétiques Résumé : Skin barrier function, principally the stratum corneum, is the primary line of defence against extrinsic stress such as UV-induced photo-damage, insults from microbial infections and physical deterioration resulting from ageing and environmental exposure. Scientific evidence suggests that both intrinsic and environmental factors contribute to 'compromised' skin barrier function. The stratum corneum functions as an effective barrier and is critical for controlling and preventing water loss. The physiological effect of optimum barrier function allows skin to recover and repair damaged cells through an ongoing regenerative process. Since skin is the body's first line of defence against any physical or chemical assault, strengthening barrier function is the primary means to improve compromised skin. Barrier protection restores skin hydration and overall health, reducing the appearance of signs of premature ageing. Note de contenu : - PREMATURE AGEING AND COMPROMISED SKIN

Exfoliation
Peau -- Soins et hygièneIndex. décimale : 668.5 Parfums et cosmétiques Résumé : It would be wonderful if we could maintain our baby skin and youthful complexion throughout our lives. Skin care creams can certainly help. As we age, our skin becomes dull. The moisture in our skin begins to fall below the normal 10%-20% moisture and it feels dry and flaky. The stratum corneum thickens (hyperkeratosis). Outer skin cells are shed (desquamation) more slowly, often in sheets or scales rather than individually. Damage from sunlight and the negative effects of inflammation (often due to reactive oxygen species ROS), begin to accumulate. Gradual effects of non-enzymic browning, where sugars react with proteins, and a whole host of other small changes, collectively impair skin's function. The best anti-ageing creams therefore moisturise, exfoliate and protect skin from damage due to both external and internal factors. The latest and most advanced products contain potent biochemicals, which owe their origins to our recent deeper understanding of skin biochemistry and stem cells. As our knowledge of cell biology has increased so has the demand for products promising purity and youthful skin. lnterestingly, it is not only the ever-increasing ageing population driving this demand. Younger people, whose lives centre on high definition screens, are also searching for ways to achieve perfect skin. You only have to look to the recent fashion for BB creams (now CC creams and beyond) to see that this market is not confined to older women but has exploded into the world of Asian youth. We have grown meadowfoam for over 30 years and hold regular, comprehensive grower meetings to ensure that all members understand and support the cooperative's mission. Additionally, our cooperative dedicates a staff agronomist to support, monitor, and maximise sustainable crop production.
Tucked between the Oregon Coast and Cascade mountain ranges, the Willamette Valley is located in the northwest region of Oregon. It is a valley known for rich fertile soif which resulted from vast ice age floods coming down the Columbia River Gorge. The combination of this fertile soif, mild summers, and high levels of precipitation have made the Willamette Valley one of the largest seed crop producing regions in the world. In addition to meadowfoam and daikon radish, our growers cultivate numerous other crops including grass seed, cabbage, lentils, turnips and kale.Note de contenu : - GROWTH OF VEGETABLE OILS IN PERSONAL CARE
