We discuss the evolving measurements used to characterize topcoated surface appearance. The influence of carbon fiber on the surface appearance of a thermoplastic resin-transfer-molding (RTM) substrate is related to differences in thermal expansion within the substrate.
The mechanism identified here is then extended to several chopped-fiber-filled thermoplastic substrates where the fiber-mapping effect is manifested in a different manner. We then investigate the influence of thick-film applications to the Class A surface on appearance. Our analysis finds that both the depth and the width or wavelength of the substrate affect the ability of the thick films to cover fiber mapping.Note de contenu : - Class a appearance defined and measured

Index. décimale : 667.6 Peintures Résumé : The use of Thermoplastic type of Acrylic Resin as a modifier for improving properties of the other resins has been demonstrated. Résistance thermiqueIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Coatings specialists are enabling materials previously unsuitable for automotive applications, to help solve issues including heat, wear and electrical insulation.
The automotive industry has long used coatings in body, chassis, power train and interior applications. Now, novel surface technology derived from the nuclear industry is enabling engineers to solve hear, wear and performance issues in a range of harsh environments, allowing the use of lighter materials. A UK-based firm, formerly part of the UK's Atomic Energy Authority, originally developed its technologies for use in reactors but in the past 10 years has been expanding into the automotive industry. Now, with a more diverse offering and the opportunity to bring lighweight materials into the industry, the technology is on the brink of high volume applications around the car.Note de contenu : - Solutions for composites
