Résumé : |
Auto body paint repair system is fairly a complex system utilizing a variety of products of which putty is one of the important components. The application properties viz. ease of application ; flow, leveling, sagging, etc and shelf stability of the putty fillers are governed by its rheology. In the present study, application properties and shelf stability of six putty samples (premium, economic, and low cost grade) were studied using rheometer. Flow curve, three interval thixotrophic test (3ITT), oscillatory amplitude sweep and frequency sweep tests were carried out. Yield point and high shear viscosity was correlated with ease of application. Viscosity after recovery and loss factor (Tan ?) was correlated with flow, leveling, sagging and shelf life of the putty fillers. Above results were finally compared with actual application of putty fillers on metal substrate. |
