Diamond Green (DG) tends to fade under light irradiation, similar to several other dyes and pigments belonging to the triarylmethane family. In this paper, an in-solution degradation study was carried out to shed light on DG photostability. The experiments were performed by artificially irradiating DG in water and dimethyl sulphoxide, and analysing aliquots sampled at different time intervals by ultra-high performance liquid chromatography coupled with diode array detector quadrupole and time of flight tandem mass spectrometry. The degradation products formed were characterised and the product-ion spectra discussed and interpreted. On the basis of the structure of the identified compounds and their kinetic trend in relation to the accelerated ageing time, degradation mechanisms were proposed for DG, taking into account the role played by the solvent. Finally, the dyeing formulation of an historical textile sample, collected from a stage costume worn in a Zeffirelli lyric opera, was determined utilising the information collected from the analysis of irradiated DG solutions. Permalink : https://e-campus.itech.fr/pmb/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=8036

To date, predicting a paint formulation's tendency towards leaching is difficult, because the phenomenon is poorly understood, and no standardised analytical methods exist. A newly-developed test method can mimic leaching conditions and help in studying the influence of paint ingredients on the occurrence of snail trails. In addiction, we devised a new polymeric dispersant that is resistant to leaching to aid formulators. Note de contenu : - Novel test methods hepl to track down the source of the snail trails
- Qualitative test - does the paint formulation develop snail trails?

Volumétrie (chimie analytique)Index. décimale : 668.1 Agents tensioactifs : savons, détergents Résumé : The modification of the manual direct two-phase titration method for anionic surface active agent determination is presented. The purpose was to find such organic solvent which can replace solvents applied in the method i.e. chloroform or dichloromethane since both are harmful, exhibiting carcinogenic, mutagenic and, embryotoxic properties. As a new solvent 1-butanol or isobutyl alcohol was used. The reaction in the examined alcohols caused to be acidic during the titration process. Thus the solvatochromic dye (1) i.e. 5-(3-bromo-4-hydroxy-5-methoxyphenyl)-7,7-dimethyl-7H-indolo[1,2-a]quinolinium perchlorate has been replaced with 1-phenyl-2-[2-(3-nitro-4-hydroxy-5-methoxyphenyl)ethenyl]-3,3-dimethyl-3H-indolium perchlorate (2). The pKa(3.51) of (2) facilitates its dissociation, and has the same color change at the titration endpoint. The modified method was tested on three different concentrations of sodium dodecyl sulfate solution, and the results are in good agreement with the real ones.
