The effects of SMP on the hydrophobicity and water uptake behavior and on the corrosion resistance provided by the coatings were examined using contact angle measurements, glass-transition temperatures, and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. The water uptake behavior of silicone–epoxy coatings with higher SMP content decreased to a greater extent for coatings with higher hydrophobicity. The anticorrosion protection of 2024 Al-alloy by silicone–epoxy coatings containing SMP correlated well with their water uptake and hydrophobicity. Revêtements anti-adhésifs -- Séchage sous rayonnement électroniqueIndex. décimale : 668.3 Adhésifs et produits semblables Résumé : Electron beam (EB) processing in the presence of certain cationic iodonium salt catalysts is proving to be a highly efficient alternative to ultraviolet (UV) light for curing silicone release coatings. EB curing provides the potential for stable release from many industrial adhesive systems, i.e., labels, tapes and a wide variety of other pressure sensitive adhesive laminates, at faster line speeds and lower costs than UV processing. Excellent cures are achieved with EB doses as little as 1-2 Mrads, irrespective of line speed, and unlike free radical initiating EB systems, nitrogen inerting of the cure chamber is not required.
The following discussion will examine the similarities and differences that characterize UV- and EB-activated cationic curing of epoxy-silicone release coatings. These evaluations compare not only the final release performances of these coatings, but they also delve into some of the economic analyses that need to be considered to make an informed choice about which of these technologies makes the greatest business sense.Note de contenu : - UV- and EB-initiated cationic curing

Spectroscopie d'impédance électrochimiqueIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Water diffusion in a composite coating on 2024 Al alloy was experimentally studied using electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). The composite coating contained an inner silane film and an outer silicone-epoxy layer. The measured value of water diffusion coefficient of the composite coating by the EIS method was compared to the value predicted using a mathematical model. The results indicated the non-continuity of water concentration at the interface of silane film and silicone-epoxy layer. Considering water concentration jump on the silane film/silicone-epoxy boundary, the diffusion coefficient of the composite coating obtained by validation model was similar to that obtained from the experimental method. Matrice dermiqueIndex. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : In this paper, the porcine acellular dermal matrix (pADM) was used as a mimetic of collagen fibres, and chemical modification by an epoxy silicone modifier (3-(2,3-epoxypropoxy)propyltrimethylsilane, E3) was carried out to improve its physicochemical properties. The modification interaction between pADM and E3 was investigated, and the various properties of the pADM after modification by E3 (E3-pADM) were further evaluated. Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy indicated that E3 was successfully introduced into pADM. After the E3 treatment, X-ray diffraction (XRD) and FTIR analysis showed that the micro-structural integrity of pADM was still maintained and scanning electronic microscopy (SEM) observation showed that the surface topography and pore structure were maintained. The differential scanning calorimetry measurement (DSC) demonstrated that the thermal stability was enhanced due to the improved structural stability after modification. Further, E3-pADMt was functionalized with hydrophobic properties compared with native pADM due to the silane side-chain. Enzymatic degradation study indicated that the resistance to enzymatic degradation of E3-pADM increased, which may benefit from hydrophobic chemical modification. In addition, the MTT assay and SEM observation illustrated that E3-pADM was favorable for the cellis adhesion, growth and proliferation. Taken as a whole, the results demonstrated that E3 could serve as a functional modifier for the chemical modification of pADM to improve the physicochemical and functional properties. Therefore, the prospect of E3 in the preparation of hydrophobic leather and acellular dermal matrix in future production and practice is brilliant. ZincIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Climate changes caused by global warming and the greenhouse effect are likely to produce even more corrosive conditions in the future because higher temperatures accelerate corrosion, and greater concentrations of carbon dioxide will increase carbonation rates and the acidity of rainfall. Corrosin is responsible for the failure of many systems and structures. Unchecked, it can result in excessive maintenance and repairs as well as system downtime and product contamination.
