RhéologieIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : This study investigates the role of the polymeric binder on the properties and performance of an intumescent coating. Waterborne resins of different types (vinylic, acrylic, and styrene-acrylic) were incorporated in an intumescent paint formulation, and characterized extensively in terms of thermal degradation behavior, intumescence thickness, and thermal insulation. Thermal microscopy images of charred foam development provided further information on the particular performance of each type of coating upon heating. The best foam expansion and heat protection results were obtained with the vinyl binders. Rheological measurements showed a complex evolution of the viscoelastic characteristics of the materials with temperature. As an example, the vinyl binders unexpectedly hardened significantly after thermal degradation. The values of storage moduli obtained at the onset of foam blowing (melamine decomposition) were used to explain different intumescence expansion behaviors. Résistance à l'humiditéIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : A variety of bisphenol A, polyfunctional, and modified epoxy chemistries are now available to the formulator, and the list of these mechanically and chemically stable raw materials is growing.
Many markets await the use of these raw materials, among them automotive and laminating adhesives, coatings, primers and tiecoats, textile and glass binders and sizings, concrete fortifiers and more.
The challenge to reduce emissions associated with use of solvents and formaldehyde can be met largely through the creative use of water-borne chemistries, including epoxy resin dispersions.Note de contenu : - TYPICAL ADHESIVE FORMULATIONS: Automotive substrate adhesives-amine cures - Automotive substrate adhesives-latent cures - Vinyl adhesive En ligne : https://drive.google.com/file/d/1zSFviAba7StHfXgDQy9crFSMbe6sfv_q/view?usp=drive [...] Format de la ressource électronique : Permalink : https://e-campus.itech.fr/pmb/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=20647

Tannage au chromeIndex. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : In the process for the graft polymerization of vinyl monomers onto chrome-tanned collagen developed at the Eastern Regional Research Center, redox initiation with the persulfate-bisulfite combination is a key step. Various aspects of this reaction have now been examined and the results obtained permit improving the grafting and monomer conversion efficiencies. As monitored by iodometric titration, the partition of persulfate ion between water and collagen depends upon the per-sulfate ion concentration and the chrome content of the collagen. The rate of disappearance of persulfate ion from solution and the quantity absorbed increased with higher concentrations of persulfate ion or chrome content of the collagen. The implication is that both a mass action effect and ionic attraction are involved. Similar bisulfite ion distribution results were obtained in studies with a radioactive isotope of sulfur. In addition, monomer absorption was studied with the chrome-tanned collagen. All of these studies indicated that grafting takes place f rom monomer in the aqueous phase onto free radical sites generated on the collagen by the absorbed redox initiation system. Additional studies with different reducing agents used at varying molar ratios to the persulfate ion clearly indicated an optimum ratio which gave both maximum monomer to polymer conversion and grafting. The persulfate-bisulfite combination still appears to he the best.
