Langues : Anglais (eng) Tags : Cytoprotection 'Heat shock proteins' Pollution Skin 'Skin defense' Stress UV Index. décimale : 668.5 Parfums et cosmétiques Résumé : Under various stress conditions, heat shock protein expression is enhanced in cells. Working on skin pieces, two of the major skin-expressed heat shock proteins, HSP72 and HSP27, were visualized by immunohistochemistry after several stress conditions (UV, pollutants, thermal shocks) and the heat shock protein expression quantified in the epidermis. A strong increase of the epidermal heat shock protein expression, due to these different stresses, was observed. The most suitable cosmetic strategy is discussed: does one need to prevent or to favor heat shock protein induction in cutaneous cells?
A prevention strategy is suitable in the case of acute stress, such as severe UV exposure that provokes cell damage and a strong induction of heat shock proteins. It is demonstrated that, using a photoprotective active ingredient Sunactyl®, suppression of the heat shock protein expression of cells is linked to a protection of the cells against UV induced damages.
An induction strategy is appropriate for chronic daily stress from various sources. Seeing that a small and controlled induction of heat shock proteins in the skin speeds up the response and enhances the cellular resistance to further stress, HSP-Balance® was developed, which boosts the heat shock protein induction in the skin under stress conditions.Permalink : https://e-campus.itech.fr/pmb/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=10584

We compare the results of this work with the published one of alkyltrimethylammonium 2-hydroxy-1-carboxy-naphthoate (CxTA 2,1 HCN, x = 16.14 or 12) [2]. With increasing counter-ion surfactant ratio r we observed transition from the isotropic L1-phase to multilamellar vesicles (MLV) La-phase. The single phases are separated by a two phase L1/L alpha region. The phases were characterized with FF-TEM, rheological and SANS measurements. For 100mM solution of either C8TAOH/2,1 HNC or C10TAOH/2,1 HNC, both MLV phases behave like a weak gel and have a yield stress value. It is thus shown that it is possible to prepare viscoelastic surfactant solutions with a small yield stress value from single chain surfactants with decyl or octylchain. Solutions de polymèreTags : Stress Diffusion Migration 'Polymer solution' 'Spectral elements' Index. décimale : 532.05 Mécanique des fluides et des liquides - Dynamique (cinétique et cinématique) Résumé : Numerical results are presented addressing the phenomenon of stress-induced polymer migration in flowing polymer solutions. The calculations refer to the Taylor-Couette device, consisting of two infinitely long concentric cylinders, the inner one of which remains stationary whereas the outer one is rotated at constant angular velocity. The underlying molecular model is a two-fluid Hamiltonian model, consisting of two components, one of which is viscoelastic and obeys the Oldroyd-B constitutive equation. The spectral collocation method is used to solve the full system of govering equations. At steady-state, the calculations demonstrate that the application of a constant shear stress in the Taylor-Couette device leads to substantial migration of polymer molecules from the outer to the inner cylinder in agreement with available experimental data. Future work will adress the time scale of the migration phenomena and a linear stability analysis of this highly inhomogeneous polymer concentration profile. Note de contenu : - Problem definition
