Langues : Anglais (eng) Tags : 'Coconut oil' oil formulations' Additives Penetration 'Tensile strengths' Index. décimale : 668.5 Parfums et cosmétiques Résumé : Coconut oil is used as a pre-wash conditioner as well as post-wash hair dressing in different parts of the world. Beneficial effects of coconut oil on prevention of combing damage on different types of hair has been established already by protein loss and water retention. In-vivo, half-head tests in salon confirmed these beneficial effects. Beneficial effects were also observed on uv treated, chemically (bleached)and thermally (treated with boiling water) damaged hair. The logical extension of that was to study why it happens. The study done using instruments such as Microfluorimetry and Time of Flight Secondary Ion Mass Spectroscopy revealed that coconut oil penetrates thru' the hair fiber, upto cortex whereas mineral oil does not penetrate at all. This was the mechanism of protecting hair fiber from adverse treatments.
In this work, we have made an attempt to determine the tensile mechanical properties of hair treated with different hair oil formulations. The study has been conducted with two sets of samples collected from individuals who use coconut oil regularly (users) and those who did not use it at all (non-users). We have used pure coconut oil, mineral oil and various formulations of both thereof to determine the efficacy in improving hair strength. A statistically significant increase in the hair strength has been observed in the hair samples treated with coconut oil.Permalink : https://e-campus.itech.fr/pmb/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=10696

The malenized products were neutralized with triethylamine to make them water compatible. N, N-Bis (2-hydroxy ethyl) fatty amide (HEFA) was prepared by reacting RBO with diethanolamine in the presence of zinc oxide as catalyst. The water compatible malenized products were blended with N, N-Bis (2-hydroxy ethyl) fatty amide (HEFA) in different ratios to prepare water based stoving compositions. Certain compositions were found to have comparable performance to that of the conventional water based alkyd-HEFA compositions when they were tested for their film and other properties. Langues : Américain (ame) Tags : Polyester polyol Seed oil Polyurethane dispersion coating High solids Solubility parameter Index. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : The hydroformylation of seed oil based fatty acid methyl esters leads to aldehyde intermediates that can be hydrogenated to give novel seed oil based monomers. In this study, the seed oil based monomers were polymerized with low molecular weight diols to produce novel aliphatic polyester polyols with very low viscosities. The seed oil polyester polyols provide environmentally friendly (green) coating formulations with low volatile organic compound emissions which lead to coatings with superior physical properties, such as exceptional hydrolytic resistance and flexibility. From these polyester polyols, waterborne polyurethane dispersions were also developed with excellent stability resulting in coatings with superior physical properties (i.e., good toughness and abrasion resistance), and exceptional hydrolytic and acid resistance. Langues : Anglais (eng) Tags : Anionic-nonionic surfactants Alkylpolyoxyethylene Polyoxypropylene ether sodium sulfonate Enhanced oil recovery Sea water flooding Interfacial tension Index. décimale : 668.1 Agents tensioactifs : savons, détergents Résumé : In view of imperfections of conventional anionic and nonionic surfactants used for enhanced oil recovery, especially the characteristics of high salinity and high Calcium/Magnesium for sea water flooding, a new novel displacement agent suitable for sea water flooding was synthesized through alkoxylation, epoxidation, sulfonation reaction with fatty alcohol as core. The structure of the product was characterized by IR. The properties of the product, including salt tolerance, temperature resistance etc. were evaluated. At 70°C, when the concentration of this surfactant is 0.3%, the interfacial tension between simulated water solution and Bohai1A-4 well crude reaches 10–3 mN/m order, the salt tolerance reaches 50000 mg/L, the resistance to calcium and magnesium reaches 2000 mg/L. The laboratory physical simulation test shows that the binary complex system (polymer + surfactant) can enhance the recovery ratio by 17.9%, while better synergistic effect of the system is obtained.
