Technological advances have focused on reducing solvent emissions, cutting waste and eliminating toxic ingredients. Some of these technologies have been late entrants to India because of the prohibitive cost and the less stringent regulatory environment. However, the additional costs of environmentally sensible options are falling. Regulators are also likely to raise standards as automobile production goes up and the significance of the pollution load from the industry rises Indian automotive manufacturers too will, over time, move to options that were hitherto seeing a restricted use in our country. Langues : Anglais (eng) Tags : 'Industrie peinture vernis' 'Composé organique volatil' 'Pollution air' 'Prévention pollution' Formulation Législation Inde Asie Index. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : There have been growing restrictions on the use of solvents in organic coating formulations because they decompose or participate in chemical reactions under the influence of sunlight with traces of substances present in the atmosphere and produce photochemical pollutants. The increasing social, environmental pollution and political awareness over the years led to a creation of regulatory bodies. The information about the enactment of Rule 66, Safety Health and Environment, Environmental Protection Agency, OSHA and United Nations Volatile Organic Component-Protocol as well as several other aspects has been reviewed. The problems associated with volatile organic components, the various options to control them, the strategy and the response of the paint industry, the possibilities in eco-friendly coating formulations, their advantages and limitations are described. At six gear cases per locomotive (one for each axle), 18,000 gear cases on the existing population of operational locomotives will eventually need to be replaced, added to the 3,000 gear cases per year, at least, needed to equip newly manufactured locomotives. The rising significance of clean technologies is nothing but old wine in a new bottle. The coatings industry is becoming borderless day by day, thus making it truly global in nature. However quite unexpectedly the developments in different parts of the world have not been similar and consistent. There are still differences over VOC emission limits in Europe, the USA, and Japan. This paper reviews the developments taking place in water-based coatings especially with respect to electrodeposition paint in Asia, Europe and the United States. A special emphasis is laid on the new trends emerging in electrodeposition technology, in India in particular. India is stepping into the new millennium with the latest benefits of electrodeposition technology and is a witness to the changes taking place worldwide. Note de contenu : Bibliogr.
