Often, however, the result is quite different. The ability to accurately predict resulting hair color after dyeing is essential, but not easy to attain because hair varies significantly from person to person. In this paper, a new method for predicting the dyed hair state is proposed. Our method is based on a model, where the observed final color consists of contribution from three layers of the hair structure: a melanin-containing layer, a bleached layer and a pigment-colored layer. A method for predicting the final color from responses in each layer is introduced. In this method, response formulae for each layer are derived from the energy balance, and the predicted hair color after dyeing is obtained by calculating the each equation assuming that the hair state before dyeing is solely because of the contribution from the melanin-containing layer. In addition, a small measuring apparatus utilizing this prediction method was developed and the effectiveness of our method demonstrated by data obtained before and after the hair dyeing. Langues : Anglais (eng) Tags : 'Asian skin' Caucasian 'Skin color' Ethnic differences' MED SPF Index. décimale : 668.5 Parfums et cosmétiques Résumé : The aim of this study was compare the SPF of three sunscreens (SPF 6/8-15/20-25/30) and 2 standars ( FDA,COLIPA fla P2), according to COLIPA recommendations, in panels of Asian (Singapore) and Caucasian (France) volunteers. Sixty male and female groups panelists were included in the test: two groups of Asians, defined according their color typology (as measured with a Chromameter: I.T.A.°:28-41° or 41-60°), and one group of Caucasians (I.T.A.°: 41-60°) in order to make a possible correlation with the light colored Asians.
Results showed statistically significantly higher SPF in the lighter Asian skin group (I.T.A.°:41-60°) compared to the Caucasian group with similar skin color for the sunscreens with SPF 15 and 30,whereas no significant difference was observed for FDA and COLIPA standards, not for the SPF 6/8 sunscreen.
These results show that differences in SPF between Asian and Caucasian skin exist. These differences are clearly present for the high SPF sunscreens and might not be only explained by skin color but also by other internal or external factors affecting skin response to UV.Permalink : https://e-campus.itech.fr/pmb/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=10673

Langues : Anglais (eng) Tags : 'Dark circles' Eyelid 'Internal canthus' 'Blood flow' 'Laser Doppler flowmeter' 'Skin color' lightness (L*)' surface temperature' Index. décimale : 668.5 Parfums et cosmétiques Résumé : The characteristics of the dark circles were investigated using a laser Doppler flowmeter (LDF) and a chromameter. Regarding the blood flow, we found that the areas surrounding the internal canthus where the dark circles are frequently observed had larger blood mass and slower blood flow velocity compared to the other regions. Furthermore, this tendency is particularly evident in the superficial layers of the skin, and also in the lower part and the lateral part of the internal canthus. Our results suggest that naturally the blood flow in the areas surrounding the internal canthus tends to stagnate easily. Concerning the skin color, we found that the areas around the internal canthus tend to appear, particularly the skin color under the internal canthus had a low lightness (L*) value. There was a significant correlation between the differences in the blood mass (ΔMass) and the differences in lightness (ΔL*) in the lower part of the internal canthus and its adjacent regions. Furtheremore, compared to the person with less prominent dark circles, the person with prominent circles had larger differences between the lower part of the internal canthus and its adjacent regions in terms of the blood mass as well as the lightness. From our results, we concluded that retention of blood in the surface of the skin is a significant factor in the development of dark circles around the eyes.
