B-Na2Si2O5 changed to kanemite in distilled water. In water with Ca2+ or Mg2+, B-Na2Si2O5 transformed to a mixture of kanemite, Ca(OH)2 and amorphous silicate or a mixture of kanemite (NaHSi2O5 ·3H2O), Mg(OH)2 and amorphous silicate. a-Na2Si2O5 changed to an unknown phase in distilled water. In water with Ca2+ or Mg2+, a-Na2Si2O5 transformed to a mixture of unknown phase, Ca(OH)2 and amorphous silicate or a mixture of unknown phase, Mg(OH)2 and amorphous silicate. The experimental data showed that the divalent cation binding process of a, B-Na2Si2O5 belongs to a mixture process with divalent cations exchange with Na+ cation and precipitation in form of insoluble amorphous solid. The oxidation kinetics exhibits first order kinetics with respect to [Oxidant], fractional order of [Ala] and inverse fractional order of [H+] on the rate of reaction. The rate of reaction decreases with decreasing dielectric constant of the medium. The rate constant increases with increasing CTAB and then constant. Increasing [Hg(OAc)2] and inorganic salts i.e. [Cl–] and [Br–] increased the rate of reaction, whereas a change in ionic strength of the medium had no effect on oxidation velocity. Methyl Cyanide as the main oxidation product has been identified. Thermodynamic and activation parameters have been evaluated. The rate constants, binding constants with surfactant (CTAB) and the index of cooperativity have also been evaluated. Titre : Interaction of mixture of anionic surfactants with collagen Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : J. Krejci, Auteur Année de publication : 2007 Article en page(s) : p. 121-129 Note générale : Bibliogr. Langues : Anglais (eng) Tags : Binding isotherms Collagen Mixture of surfactants Sodium dodecyl benzene sulphate Index. décimale : 668.5 Parfums et cosmétiques Résumé : Study focused on interaction of collagen fibres of collagen I with anionic surfactants sodium dodecylbenzene sulphonate (SDBS), sodium dodecyl sulphate (SDS) and their mixtures at pH = 6, at two ionic strengths (I = 0.06 mol L-1 and I = 0.4 mol L-1) and laboratory temperature. Surfactants and their mixtures were characterised by their critical micelle concentration (c.m.c.), composition of mixed micelles and interaction factor B according to Rubingh. Dependency of c.m.c. on mixture composition has an opposite tendency at both ionic strengths, which proves the greater influence of added electrolyte on behaviour of SDS than of SDBS. Interaction was evaluated by means of binding isotherms and mass swelling degree (alpha)m. The bound quantity partly depends on mixture composition, partly on ionic strength. SDS and mixtures containing its greater quantities are bound more than SDBS (approx. 150 % related to SDBS). Increased ionic strength of the environment increases bound quantity in approximately same manner, heedless of adsorbate composition. Even composition of the mixture after interaction with fibres does not markedly alter from initial composition. Fibre swelling is affected by composition of swelling mixture similarly to binding – it increases with growing quantity of surfactants. Greater ionic strength acts against collagen swelling, and at given ionic strength (I = 0.4 mol L-1) swelling attains half values compare to swelling at low ionic strength (I = 0.06 mol L-1). There are characteristic concentrations of both surfactants and their mixtures (cs 0.5 - 1.0 mmol L-1) that do not produce swelling. It is assumed that this range of concentrations corresponds to amount of surfactants bound to collagen through electrostatic forces and thus to temporary increase in fibre hydrophobity. Langues : Anglais (eng) Catégories : Surfactants Tags : Thermo-responsive surfactants Metal binding Uranyl complex Cloud point extraction Nonionic Index. décimale : 668.1 Agents tensioactifs : savons, détergents Résumé : The properties of new thermo-responsive functional surfactants, capable of forming a metal chelate, synthesized by grafting a diamide group (amino-acid residue) to the tip hydrophilic endgroup or in a branched position to polyoxyethylene nonionic surfactants [CiEj: CiH2i+1(OCH2CH2)jOH)], are studied. Their use in cloud point extraction of uranyl nitrate is tested. The reversible temperature-dependent behavior of classical non-ionic surfactants associated to phase separation of micellar solutions known as clouding behavior is exploited for separation based on cation specific binding to the chelating group. The functional surfactants under investigation combine surface-active properties and characteristic thermoreversible behavior with a capacity to bind uranyl cation. The influence of the complexation on the cloud points of functional surfactants is determined. The chelating surfactants are found efficient for the cloud point extraction of uranyl nitrate at low surfactant-to-uranyl ratio. These new thermoresponsive surfactants with chelating properties hold most promise for the development of new solvent free extraction processes.
