ViscoélasticitéIndex. décimale : 668.1 Agents tensioactifs : savons, détergents Résumé : In this paper, an improved method for the preparation of erucyl dimethyl amidopropyl betaine (EDAB) was provided. The synthesis conditions were investigated. N,N-dimethyl-N’-erucyl-1,3-propylenediamine was synthesized by the reaction of erucic acid with N,N-dimethyl-1,3-propylenediamine at 170°C for 7 h, and then the intermediate was reacted with sodium chloroacetate in the mixture of methanol and water (3:7 v/v) at 60°C. The product was obtained after 6 h. The compounds were confirmed by IR and 1H-NMR. The properties of EDAB acid solution were also studied. The results indicated that viscosity of acid solution increased with decreasing hydrochloric acid concentration and was mainly controlled by surfactant concentration and temperature. The viscosity of an acid solution was maximum when the concentration of hydrochloric acid was at 15 wt%.

Textiles et tissus synthétiquesIndex. décimale : 668.1 Agents tensioactifs : savons, détergents Résumé : Consumers use whiteness as an indicator for washing performance. Graying of fabrics is especially observed after several washing cycles. To retain a high level of whiteness, even after multiple washes, BASF developed an antigraying solution that works on cotton and synthetic fabrics. The enzyme-chemistry solution increases the level of performance and convenience even at low temperatures. Using enzymes in combination with surfactants, polymers, and optical brighteners will take liquid detergents to the next level. Note de contenu : - Whiteness is a key consumer demand

SaccharoseIndex. décimale : 668.1 Agents tensioactifs : savons, détergents Résumé : The oxidation reactions of D-sucrose have been carried out with N-bromophthalimide in the presence of micellar aggregates at 45°C. The kinetics revealed first order dependence on N-bromophthalimide (NBP) and fractional order dependence on D-sucrose. Variation of mercuric acetate concentration has an insignificant effect on reaction rate. The stoichiometric ratio of NBP:D-sucrose was 1:2 and the oxidation product was aldonic acid confirmed by FeCl3–HCl test. The influence of salts on the reaction rate has also been studied. Phthalimide (NHP) and sulfuric acid (H2SO4) inhibit the rate. Thermodynamic and activation parameters have been evaluated and a mechanism consistent with the kinetic data has been proposed. Cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) and TritonX-100 (TX-100) catalyze the reaction, while sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) inhibits the rate of reaction. The applicability of Berezin's model was tested to explain the observed micellar effects. The rate constants (kM) and binding constants (KS + KO) have been evaluated. Langues : Anglais (eng) Catégories : Surfactants -- Biodégradation Tags : Anaerobic biodegradation biodegradability Wastewater treatment Screening tests Simulation sediment Monitoring data Index. décimale : 668.1 Agents tensioactifs : savons, détergents Résumé : The anaerobic biodegradation of surfactants is used as an acceptability criterion in some environmental pieces of legislation (eco-label, risk assessment, etc.), without a proper evaluation of the relevance of such a characteristic. Available screening test methods to assess the anaerobic biodegradation do not simulate the real conditions prevailing in these anaerobic compartments but rather reflect more stringent conditions, due to the high test substance/biomass ratio, possibility of inhibitory effects and limited possibility for adaptation. Therefore positive results are indicative of a similar behaviour under environmental conditions, while a negative result cannot be necessarily interpreted as inherent anaerobic recalcitrance. The majority of surfactants entering the environment will be exposed to and degraded under aerobic conditions, and only less than 20% will potentially reach temporarily anaerobic environmental compartments. In contrast to the well documented adverse effects observed in the absence of aerobic biodegradation, the lack of anaerobic biodegradation does not seem to be correlated with any apparent environmental problem for most compartments after more than 40 years of widely use of such products. The scientific review concluded that anaerobic biodegradability does not have the same environmental relevance as the aerobic one. Anaerobic biodegradability should not, therefore, be used as a pass/fail property for the environmental acceptability of surfactants which are readily biodegradable under aerobic conditions. SurfactantsIndex. décimale : 668.1 Agents tensioactifs : savons, détergents Résumé : Thin-layer chromatographic analysis of surfactants is presented in this review. Various chromatographic systems useful for the identification, separation and quantification of surfactants are reported. New approaches in thin-layer chromatography enable analysts to separate and determine surfactants in complex mixtures (in various environmental samples). Thin-layer chromatographic methods are mainly used for the separation of surfactants either in the separation of different classes or separation of different groups within the same class.
