SéchageIndex. décimale : 668.1 Agents tensioactifs : savons, détergents Résumé : Titanium dioxide is a well-known UV-absorber but it can also be used for initiating chemical reactions by ultra-violet radiation. By doping this semiconductor with carbon, interstate energy levels between the energy bands are formed. This offers the possibility not only to use ultra-violet light, but also visible light to activate the catalyst. In a cyclic photo-catalytic process inorganic radicals are generated from the surrounding atmospheric water and oxygen. These radicals then oxidize organic compounds e.g. aromatic and aliphatic hydrocarbons or inorganic molecules e.g. nitrogen oxides and carbon monoxide, respectively, to carbon dioxide, nitrates and water as end-products, which can readily be assimilated by vegetation. Potential applications are found in self-cleaning surfaces and the reduction of air and water pollution, where its superhydrophilicy and high specific surface areas can be utilized. In order to provide optimal composition of the reaction mediumwater/n-propanol/surfactant/4-allylanisole micellar systems were formulated. The surfactants were sodium dodecyl sulfate, cetyltrimethylammonium bromide, sucrose monolaurate, and polyethylene glycol (7) glyceryl cocoate. The ratio (w/w) of n-propanol/surfactant equals 2/1. The extent of the microemulsions region as function of temperature was determined. The micellar systems were characterized by the volumetric parameters, density, excess volume, ultrasonic velocity and isentropic compressibility. The micellar densities increase with the increase in the water volume fraction. Ultrasonic velocities increase with the increase in water volume fraction up to 0.8 then decrease. Ultrasonic velocities increase with temperature for water volume fractions below 0.8 and decrease for water volume fractions above 0.8. Quantitative analysis of the volumetric parameters enabled the characterization of structural transition along the micellar phase. The particle hydrodynamic diameter of the oil-in-water systems was determined as function of temperature. The particle hydrodynamic diameter decreases in the case of the ionic surfactants while in the case of nonionic surfactants it increases.
SurfactantsIndex. décimale : 668.1 Agents tensioactifs : savons, détergents Résumé : In this work, detersive power (soil removal) was studied after washing a soiled wool fabric with addition of a non-toxic solvent microemulsion to conventional washing detergent formulations with the aim of improving the performance of the conventional washing. The non-toxic solvent used was dimethyl sulfoxide micro-dispersed with an amphoteric surfactant as emulsifier. The fabric was washed with biodegradable non-ionic surfactants such as an alcohol ethoxylate (AE) with 7 mE. O. and an alkyl polyglucoside with 1.4 glucoside groups (APG). The fabric used was EMPA 107 wool (soiled with standard impurities). The nonionic surfactants were used separately and in mixture in varying proportions for the washes. Given the large amount of impurities in the wool fabric, sodium carbonate and sodium chloride were used to attain a suitable pH to avoid damaging the wool. The fabric was washed at low temperature with water of different hardness (20°hf, 30°hf and 40°hf). In addition, the sequestering agent DTPMP was used to obtain an improvement of detersive power at the hardness of 40°hf. Note de contenu : - EXPERIMENTAL : Materials - Equipment - Procedures

For these X-ray measurements, a temperature-controlled SWAX camera was used. The X-ray-curves of the phases studied were evaluated as a function of the temperature and composition of the phases. Helix-formation occurs by solubilization of the cholesterol into the ND phase. During solubilization both the formanisotropy and the periodicity volume of the micelles were changed. Furthermore, the process of solubilization affects the average aggregation number per micelle and the average number of the solubilized cholesterol molecules per micelle. Structural details relating to the micelle parameters of the ChD- phase and ChC-ph L alpha phase are discussed. Permalink : https://e-campus.itech.fr/pmb/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=3235
