What is known as a water aerosol is produced on the surface with an ultrasound nozzle - 4. Different droplet sizes on a CFRP surface : the area on the right was treated with atmospheric pressure plasma ; here the wettability is much better and therefore the droplets are larger on average - 5. Evaluation of the droplets on a CFRP surface using the Visioncheck image processing software (a zoomed section of the original image is shown on the left, the same area after applying the droplet recognition algorithm is presented in the middle, and the evaluation of each individual drolet is shown on the right) - 6. Sample evaluation and good/bad classification of an area contaminated by a fingerprint, using automated image processing software - 7. Measurement results with evaluation of the average droplet size and wetting percentage : the diagrams on the left show the results of a plasma-activated specimen (activation Lvl1 < activation Lvl2), the diagrams on the right show the results of specimens contaminated by parting agents in various concentrations. These were tested within the scope of the ComBoNDT project (this ComBoNDT project has received funding from the European Union's Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement no. 636494)Permalink : https://e-campus.itech.fr/pmb/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=28068

Surfaces -- AnalyseIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Surface properties of a polymeric coating system have a strong influence on its performance and service life. However, the surface of a polymer coating may have different chemical, physical, and mechanical properties from the bulk. In order to monitor the coating property changes with environmental exposures from the early stages of degradation, nondestructive techniques with the ability to characterize surface properties with micro- to nanoscale spatial resolution are required. In this article, atomic force microscopy has been applied to study surface microstructure and morphological changes during degradation in polymer coatings. Additionally, the use of AFM with a controlled tip-sample environment to study nanochemical heterogeneity and the application of nanoindentation to characterize mechanical properties of coatings surfaces are demonstrated. The results obtained from these nanometer characterization techniques will provide a better understanding of the degradation mechanisms and a fundamental basis for predicting the service life of polymer coatings.

Tannage Résumé : As part of industrial quality control in the leather industry, it is important to segment features/defects in wet-blue leather samples. Manual inspection of leather samples is the current norm in industrial settings. To comply with the current industrial standards that advocate large-scale automation, visual inspection based leather processing is imperative. Visual inspection of wet-blue leather features is a challenging problem as the characteristics of these features can take on a variety of shapes and colour variations to constitute various normal and abnormal surface regions. The aim of this work is to automatically segment leather images to detect various features/defects along with the background through visual analysis of the surfaces. To accomplish this, a deep learning-based technique is developed that learns to segment wet-blue leather surface features. On our own curated leather images dataset, the proposed ensemble network performed well, with an F1-Score of 74 percent. Note de contenu : - LITERATURE REVIEW
