Across the USA, nearly 3 million square metres of precast surface area have been erected on almost 600 projects under the CarbonCast brand name using the C-GRID CFRP grid enabling technology supplied by Chomarat North America LLC. PolymérisationIndex. décimale : 668.4 Plastiques, vinyles Résumé : Weight savings and volatile organic emissions reduction are issues often debated nowadays in the transport sector. The goal of aircraft manufacturers is to achieve green aircrafts, which means to invent innovative ways to make aircraft clean by reducing their air pollution and fuel consumption and improving their efficiency. In this context, composite materials play a significant role in the current and the future aircraft industry due to their exeptional strenght and stiffness-to-density ratios, which contribute to weight reduction. Driven by a strong move towards sustainability, vehicle body design is going through a radical change. In response to this, Axalta Coating Systems has been looking at ways to meet the challenges that these new lightweight materials are presenting.
Increasing pressure from regulatory bodies has been put on the automotive industry to move towards more sustainable materials and processes. For several decades, regulatory requirements, such as reduction of organic solvant omission, overall CO2 reduction and increased fuel efficiency, have prompted the coatings industry to develop new, ecologically sustainable coatings, like high solids or waterborne materials and consolidated systems, such as primer-less, two-wet or three-wet systems. In order to reduce the overall weight of the car body, the OEMs want to increase the usage of lower weight materials, including aluminium and magnesium and polymeric substrates. Paint shop processes and materials need to be adapted accordingly. In the case of polymeric substrates, the baking temperatures for the coating hardening processes need to be lowered.Note de contenu : - The implications of lightweight body design

Simulation par ordinateurIndex. décimale : 668.4 Plastiques, vinyles Résumé : Improving efficiency, lowering emissions, and decreasing fuel consumption are global trends that are currently transforming the transportation industry. Lightweighting by replacing metal components with lighter composite materials is one approach for achieving these goals. However, as structural designs have become more complex and demanding, new composite material development has struggled to keep up, thus slowing the adoption of lightweighting.
