Two types of DE-g-MAH were prepared by different methods and had similar grafting degree about 0.2 % and then they were added into the polyamide-6/elastomer (PA6/DE) blends, respectively. The effect of DE-g-MAH on the interfacial properties of PA6/DE blends was studied. The experimental results showed that, compared to the DE-g-MAH initiated by peroxide, DE-g-MAH initiated by ultrasound had better effect on refining the particle size of the dispersion phase and keeping the stability of the phase in the blends, which could be confirmed through SEM and Molau tests. When 5 % DE-g-MAH initiated by peroxide was added, the particle size of dispersion phase was 3.90 ?m, however, when 5 % DE-g-MAH initiated by ultrasound was added, the particle size of dispersion phase was 2.82 ?m. The results of TGA and mechanical tests showed the improved interfacial interaction and enhanced interfacial adhesion of the blend by adding DE-g-MAH, respectively.

Index. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : In order to improve the wettability and antiprotein adsorption property of PDMS, heptamethyltrisiloxane (a well-known superspreader) was coated onto the PDMS substrates by a swelling–deswelling process. PDMS films were first immersed in heptamethyltrisiloxane solution mixtures to coat heptamethyltrisiloxane onto PDMS. During the deswelling process, the hydrophobic siloxane group of the superspreader heptamethyltrisiloxane was trapped in the PDMS matrix, while the hydrophilic group EO was exposed to the surface. In this manner, heptamethyltrisiloxane was finally coated on the PDMS surface via swelling–deswelling process. Contact angle measurements, optical property analyses, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, and atomic force microscopy were used to confirm that durable hydrophilic and transparent PDMS surfaces were successfully obtained. The PDMS surface wettability could be adjusted by tuning the solubility parameters of the solution mixture. Additionally, antiprotein adsorption property was investigated and the result indicated the heptamethyltrisiloxane was tethered onto the PDMS surface. The swelling–deswelling method can be applied for the modification of other crosslinked polymers to obtain antifouling surfaces and functional materials for biomedical applications. Owing to its short perfluoroalkyl functional group, PHFBA is a suitable low-surface-energy finish that can be used for hydrophobic functionalization of textile surfaces. During iCVD of PHFBA, the use of initiator helped to achieve deposition rates up to 83 nm/min, which is nearly twice that achieved by PECVD. FTIR and XPS analyses of as-deposited films showed very high retention of carbonyl and perfluoroalkyl functionalities. Polyester and cotton fabrics were made superhydrophobic after conformal coating of PHFBA by iCVD. The decoration of fabric surfaces by SiO2 nanoparticles prior to the iCVD coating helped to create composite structures having dual-scale roughness. The final SiO2-treated and iCVD-PHFBA-coated textile fabrics showed very high water contact angles (> 165°). Surfaces -- AnalyseIndex. décimale : 667.4 Encres Résumé : Ink-jet printing technology has experienced dramatic advances in the last decade, and is widely used in small businesses and home offices because of its excellent resolution, low price, and brilliant multicolor output. The ink-jet process involves two distinct parts, the inks and their application, and the media surface. Improvements in ink-jetting technology and the corresponding improvement in image application resolution have caused waterfastness to become more limiting to the achieved resolution. Our research work attempts to improve waterfastness by incorporating cationically modified boehmites into paper coating formulations that interact more strongly with anionic dyes in the inks. Boehmites (gamma-AlOOH) were surface-modified using commercially available [N,N,N-trimethyl]-ammonium propyl-(trimethoxy)-silane salts in nonaqueous reactions. The modified boehmites were characterized using infrared spectroscopy, thermogravimetric analysis, zeta potential, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, and pore size analysis to assess the extent of modification and pore size effects. Aqueous, high pigment volume concentration paper coatings were then formulated from the boehmites and applied to paper substrates to assess the relative ability of the coatings to retain printed image dyes. The coatings were characterized for dispersion viscosity and gloss, while printed images on the coatings were tested by water spot, fixed dye, and water drip analyses. Coatings synthesized using the surface-modified pigments showed a reduced binder demand as well as improved image waterfastness and fixed-dye adsorption properties as compared to the unmodified boehmite coatings.

The evolution of under-film corrosion could be divided into four stages according to the observation of the corrosion morphology and the distribution of corrosion products and elements. Corrosion propagation was related to the distribution of media at the edge of the blistering area. Local electrochemical impedance spectroscopy analysis revealed that local impedance mapping could help in predicting the direction of corrosion propagation. The interfacial debonding at the edge of the blistering area was a necessary condition for corrosion propagation. Note de contenu : - EXPERIMENT : Specimens - Instrumentation
