TitaneIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Titanium implant success is compromised by microbial biofilms and aseptic loosening. This research aimed to develop robust multifunctional class II organic-inorganic hybrid coatings for implants with osteoconductive and antibacterial properties. 3-Glycidoxypropyltrimethoxysilane was coupled with organic polymer poly(ethylene) glycol-diamine (PEG-NH2) for integration into an inorganic sol backbone composed of tetraethoxysilane and calcium, which was sourced from newly synthesized calcium-2-ethoxyethoxide. Nuclear magnetic resonance and attenuated total reflectance Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy confirmed synthesis of precursors and the structure of coating constituents. Scanning electron microscopy and energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS) demonstrated homogenous coatings, micro-topographical surface features, and apatite-like ex vivo mineralization in simulated body fluid. Tensile adhesion testing demonstrated robust and highly adherent (15.1 ± 3.3 MPa) coatings on titanium substrates. Hybrid coatings imbedded with silver nanoparticles (nAg) significantly inhibited (P < 0.05) Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli planktonic cultures and biofilm formation. These Si-Ca-PEG-nAg hybrid coatings for titanium implants offer robust multifunctional features. PhosphatesIndex. décimale : 668.1 Agents tensioactifs : savons, détergents Résumé : The similarity of surface properties of dolomite and phosphate minerals leads to limited or no selectivity in their separation by flotation. Many chemical additives were tested; however, a limited success was achieved. Recently, bio-surfactants and bacteria have received much focus not only because of their environmentally friendly behaviour but also for their enhanced selectivity in different processes such as flotation. In this paper, the adsorption of Pseudomonas Aeruginosa (PA) bacteria onto francolite and dolomite was investigated. The adhesion of bacteria was studied by adsorption isotherm, zeta potential, and Fourier Transform Infra-Red (FTIR) spectroscopy to reveal the effect of bacteria on the floatability of each mineral. The proposed adsorption mechanism depends mainly on physical interaction due to Van der Waal’s, bridging, electrostatic, as well as hydrophobic forces Permalink : https://e-campus.itech.fr/pmb/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=12611

Tannage Résumé : In this study, investigations were performed on the effect of atmospheric pressure plasma modification after the retanning process on sheep leathers and wastewater of the processes. The plasma treatments of the leather samples were carried out with an argon containing corona discharge at atmospheric pressure. Argon atmospheric pressure plasma (APP) activation was applied to the crust sheep leather surface with different times (0, 3, 6, 9 sec/cm2). After argon APP application, the crust sheep leathers were processed by traditional retannage. The surface properties of the treated sheep leathers were characterised by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and an atomic force microscopy (AFM). The chemical composition of the leather surfaces was evaluated by ATR-FTIR and the surface state of the leathers was determined by contact angle measurements. The discharged chrome retanning and retanning wastewaters at the end of the processes were examined in order to determine the differences in the wastewater in terms of COD, BOD5, conductivity, turbidity, pH, salinity, total dissolved solids content (TDS) and total chromium content analyses.
