The leather retanned by the amphiphilic polymeric syntan achieves an improvement of mechanical properties, as well as enhancement of thermal stability. The results of instrumental analysis also provide evidence to the applicability of the prepared copolymer as an efficient retanning agent for chrome-tanned leather. The effects of PTCMA concentrations on morphological, thermal and transport properties (water uptake, methanol permeability, ion exchange capacity and proton conductivity) were investigated. A morphological analysis revealed an homogenous dense microstructure for all the composites. Also, transport property tests revealed that the water uptake, methanol permeability and ion exchange capacity were enhanced by the addition of PTCMA whereas proton conductivity deteriorated. As shown by a thermogravimetric analysis, the difference between the thermal properties of the pure SPEEK and the composites was insignificant. Overall, the composites were observed to display a better global performance in terms of transport properties than pure SPEEK.

MontmorilloniteIndex. décimale : 668.9 Polymères Résumé : In this research work, three different types of nano-composites based on EPDM/NBR blend (70/30 wt.%) have been prepared: one type including Cloisite 20A in EPDM phase, the other one containing Cloisite 30B in NBR phase and the third type consisting of Cloisite 20A in EPDM and Cloisite 30B in NBR phases simultaneously (called EN-xAB). XRD and TEM techniques showed intercalated or exfoliated structures for all types of nano-composites. According to SEM results, the most roughness of the surface was observed at EN-xAB nano-composites. Cure characteristics of the samples showed that the lowest scorch and cure time and highest crosslink density was devoted to EN-xAB samples. Comparison of mechanical properties of the nano-composites showed that the best properties were found in the samples consisted of both types of organo-clays simultaneously.

TannageIndex. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : Methacrylic acid-co-modified anhydride/montmonrillonite (MAA-co-modified MA/MMT) nanocomposite was prepared via the free radical copolymerization of methacrylic acid and maleic anhydride in the presence of montmorillonite, in which maleic anhydride and montmorillonite were modified respectively by ethanolamine and the initiator (potassium persulfate). The influence of maleic anhydride modifier, the mass ration of MAA to MA and modified MMT contents on the application properties of nanocomposite was investigated.
The wet-heat resistance stability and the fullness of leather tanned by nanocomposite were improved with the increase of hydroxyl group of ethanolamine. The introduction of modified MA and modified MMT resulted in increase and then decrease of the wet-heat resistance stability and the fullness of leather. X-ray diffraction (XRD) and Transmission Electron Microscope (TEM) confirmed MAA-co-modified MA/MMT nanocomposite is categorized as exfoliated and intercalated one.Note de contenu : - EXPERIMENTAL PROCEDURES : Materials - Preparation of MAA-co-modified MA/MMT nanocomposite (see appendix for details) - Characterization of MAA-co-modified MA/MMT nanocomposite - Application of MAA-co-modified MA/MMT nanocomposite leather sampels.

ThermogravimétrieIndex. décimale : 668.4 Plastiques, vinyles Résumé : In this study, a organosilicon modified waterborne polyurethane (WPU) is synthesized with polyethylene glycol 1,4-butanediol adipate ester diol (PBA) to form the soft segment, dimethylolpropionic acid (DMPA) as the hydrophilic chain extender, and isophorone diisocyanate as the hard segment to synthesize the WPU prepolymer, and aminoethyl aminopropyl dimethicone (AEAPS) as the graft chain extender. The properties of the formed WPU films are then characterized by using Fourier transform infrared spectrometry, thermogravimetric analysis, X-ray diffraction, and dynamic mechanical analysis. It is found that when the amount of AEAPS in the WPU is increased from 0 to 30 wt%, the particle size of the AEAPS modified WPU emulsion is increased from 84.8 nm to 271.9 nm and maintained high centrifugal stability. Moreover, the water absorption of the WPU film is reduced from 43.4% to 24.1%, and the hardness is enhanced from 3H to 5H, while the glass-transition temperature (Tg) of the soft segment of the modified WPU shifts from -37.4 °C to -44.3 °C, and the Tg of the hard segment shifts from 73.6 °C to 118.1 °C. Therefore, the overall performance of AEAPS modified WPU is improved Note de contenu : - EXPERIMENTAL : Materials - Preparation of WPU
