TriphénodioxazineIndex. décimale : 667.3 Teinture et impression des tissus Résumé : A novel phosphorus‐containing acid dye based on triphendioxazine was designed and synthesised from diphenylamine through a series of reactions. The dye has a navy-blue colour, high molar extinction coefficient of 5.32 × 104 l/mol·cm, and high substantivity for dyeing wool in a salt-free, aqueous dyebath. A high exhaustion value of 98.2% on wool fabrics was recorded at 3% omf and a liquor ratio of 1:20. The wash fastness values of the acid dye, including colour change and staining on cotton and wool, were grades 5, 4 and 4–5, respectively. The dry and wet fastness are grades 4–5 and 4, respectively. In addition, light fastness reaches grades 6–7 at 3% omf dye concentration. These dye properties are better than those of commercial triphendioxazine dyes, for example, CI Direct Blue 106 and CI Reactive Blue 198, under analogous dyeing conditions. ViscositéIndex. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : Fatliquors are involved in leather making process to separate fibres of leather from each other and impart soft hand feeling. Fatliquors are chemically modifications of vegetable and animal oils. Castor oil is suitable as a basic raw material for the preparation of fatliquor due to hydroxyl functionality on ricinoleic acid. In this paper, castor ail based synthetic fatliquors were synthesised by two step processes. In a first step castor oil is condensed with maleic anhydride at varying mole ratio from 1 to 3. In the second step castor maleic adduct was sulphited with sodium metabisulphite at varying mole ratios from zero to 1.5. Solubility behaviour with viscosity changes were observed at différent mole ratios of reactants. Structural changes in synthetic fatliquors were studied by FTIR spectroscopy.
Fatliquoring properties at the stabilised fatliquors were comparatively evaluated on goat crust leather. Comparative analysis at leather softness, lear and tensile strengths, elongation at break, light fastness and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) of the fatliquored feathers were studied and comparatively better results were found in leather using the synthetic fatliquor which was synthesised at optimal conditions of castor ail to maleic anhydride mole ratio of 1:1.5 and further sulphitation of the castor maleic adduct with sodium metabisulphite at a mole ratio of 1.Note de contenu : - EXPERIMENTAL PROCEDURES : Chemicals - Apparatus - Preparation of sulphited castor maleic condensate based synthetic fatliquor

PolyacrylonitrileIndex. décimale : 667.3 Teinture et impression des tissus Résumé : This study reports the synthesis of nine new fluorescent stilbene-triazine whitening agents containing a tetramethylpiperidine fragment. These products were isolated and characterised by spectroscopic techniques, i.e. infrared, ultraviolet, and fluorescent spectra, and confirmed by proton nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy. The photostability of the new compounds and two optical brighteners containing an unsaturated group without a stabiliser fragment was studied. It was found that the compounds containing tetramethylpiperidine have better photostability. The possibility of the copolymerisation of the unsaturated compounds with acrylonitrile was investigated, and self-whitening polymers with an intense blue fluorescence were obtained. It was established that 85–86% of the fluorophores are chemically bound to the polymer chain. Solidité de la couleurIndex. décimale : 667.3 Teinture et impression des tissus Résumé : We report here the synthesis and characterisation of a new medium-reactivity reactive dye containing 2-sulphophenoxy-4-chloro-s-triazine, having enhanced the activity of the chlorine atom for further substitution by the functional groups carried by wool fibre. In addition, a dichloro-s-triazine dye was also synthesised for the purpose of comparison. The progress of synthesis reactions and purity of the dyes were determined using capillary electrophoresis and thin layer chromatography. The molecular structure and the chemical compositions of the synthesised dyes were confirmed using Fourier Transform–infrared spectral data and elemental analyses. The inks containing the synthesised dyes were formulated and ink-jet-printed onto wool fabrics and then the printed fabrics were steamed at 102°C. Compared with the dichloro-s-triazine dye, superior performance in terms of ink stability, K/S and dye fixation was observed for the new 2-sulphophenoxy-4-chloro-s-triazine dye. In addition, the light fastness of the fabric printed with the inks containing the new dye was 0.5-grade greater than that of the fabric printed with the inks containing the dichloro-s-triazine dye, and no changes in shade and staining were observed following wash fastness tests of the fabrics printed with the inks containing the new dye.
