A semi-continuous seeded emulsion polymerization followed. The overall research objective was to improve the bacteriostatic, hydrophobicity and anti-aging properties of leather articles. The structure of the composite emulsion and its film were characterized and analyzed by FT-IR, TEM and XPS. The results showed that the latex particles had an obvious core-shell structure, a smooth surface and were monodisperse. The particle size of the emulsion ranged between 30 and 50 nm. The average value of Zeta potential was -40.1 mV which signified a good emulsion stability. The composite emulsion and its film had good UV resistance and water resistance. When the content of organic fluorine in the film was a maximum 20 %, the contact angle of a water drop on the finished leather, tensile strength and tear strength were 133.48°, 620 N and 61 N, respectively. When the content of nano-ZnO in the film was 1.0%, the average width of antibacterial band of finished leather was 2.1 mm. The finished leather also demonstrated a good anti-aging property. Spectroscopie de photoélectronsIndex. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : A type of novel flocculating agent, collagen protein flocculant (CPF), was prepared by using untanned skin waste from a tannery as raw material and, as a typical application, the flocculation behaviour of CPF on papermaking black liquor was investigated. Four CPFs with different degrees of cationicity were synthesized and their structures were characterized by FT-IR, XPS, zeta potential analysis, and the determinations of degree of cationization and primary amine content. The CPFs exhibited satisfactory flocculation on papermaking black liquor because they led to ghigh TOC and colour removals and produced a small volume of sludge. The effective flocculation behaviour of CPFs can be attributed to a combined effect of charge neutralization and hydrogen bonding between CPF and the lignin in black liquor, as well as the binding of collagen to lignin. This research provides a novel approach in reuse of the skin wastes from leather industry. Note de contenu : - Materials

Spectroscopie de photoélectronsIndex. décimale : 668.3 Adhésifs et produits semblables Résumé : Carbon black filled rubber parts may challenge many analytical methods because the compounded rubber may include up to twenty individual ingredients. Often, after mixing, it is difficult to extract ingredients from the polymer base due to their interactions with other ingredients such as carbon black.
Analysis of extracted ingredients may give erroneous results due to contamination by other ingredients from the compound. The carbon black components in the blend often interfere with spectral analysis methods because carbon black tends to absorb spectural frequencies, such as infrared.
Testing of bonded rubber-to-metal parts amplifies the problems two-fold. The bonding adhesive is also a multi-component polymeric blend, much like the rubber. Also involved are contaminants associated with the substrate. For example, a stamped steel insert may be contaminated with hydrocarbons. If the metal is porous, oil may bleed out of the metal grain over time and undermine a bond system. Or, if the oil is present initially, it may prevent adhesive wet-out, thus inhibiting adhesion to the substrate.Note de contenu : - Traditional analysis is lacking

Ces progrès sont illustrés par des exemples tirés d'expériences récemment réalisées auprès de sources de lumière synchrotron, en soulignant les perspectives nouvelles qui s'ouvrent en catalyse et en chimie environnementale.
