Tribologie (technologie)Index. décimale : 668.4 Plastiques, vinyles Résumé : In the present study, the influence of surface modification treatments such as alkali, silane and Ca(OH)2 on luffa fiber reinforced composites has been investigated. In addition, the design of experiment and Taguchi method were used for optimizing the wear resistance of composites. Statistical regression analysis was also used to develop mathematical model for specific wear rate and coefficient of friction. The dry sliding wear tests were conducted through pin-on-disc equipment as per ASTM G99 for the varying sliding velocity. Surface modifications of luffa fiber reinforced composites such as NaOH, Silane and Ca(OH)2 cause an increase wear resistance. It was observed that the Ca(OH)2 treatment to luffa fiber improves wear resistance significantly compared to NaOH and silane treatment. In particular, luffa fiber (with 30 wt.%) reinforced composites at a normal load of 10 N have higher wear resistance among other Ca(OH)2 treated composites. Depending upon load, velocity of sliding and sliding distance, fiber weight percentage used in this study, wear resistance can be ranked as Ca(OH)2> Silane >NaOH> untreated luffa fiber reinforced composites. The worn surface morphologies of composites with different condition are discussed. The developed statistical regression mathematical equations predictions were in good agreement with experimental data. It is noted that the developed model may be used to successfully predict the tribological behavior of luffa fiber reinforced composites.

Usure (mécanique)Index. décimale : 668.4 Plastiques, vinyles Résumé : Now-a-days, natural fiber based composites are emerging as a supplement to the synthetic fiber composites. The aim of the present work is to investigate the three-body abrasive wear behavior of needle-punch nonwoven jute fiber reinforced epoxy (NJFE) composites in an abrasive environment. Three-body abrasion studies have been done on composites using rubber wheel abrasion tester. The design of experiments approach using Taguchi methodology is employed for the parametric analysis of abrasive wear process. The effect of the factors such as sliding velocity, fiber loading, applied load, sliding distance and abrasive size on the specific wear rate and coefficient of friction of composite has been studied. Experimental results reveal the improvement of abrasive wear behavior of the composites with the addition of fiber as compared to neat epoxy. At steady state condition, it has been observed that composites with 36 wt% fiber loading shows minimum specific wear rate. From the statistical analysis it has been concluded that the factor combination with sliding velocity of 120 cm/s, fiber loading of 36 wt%, normal load of 10 N, sliding distance of 50 m and abrasive size of 400 ?m gives minimum specific wear rate whereas sliding velocity of 144 cm/s, fiber loading of 36 wt%, normal load of 10 N, sliding distance of 70 m and abrasive size of 300 ?m gives minimum coefficient of friction. Finally, the worn surfaces are examined by using scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and possible abrasion wear mechanisms are discussed.
Note de contenu : - EXPERIMENTAL STUDY : Samples - Factorial design study - Texture analysis - Rheology measurements - Microscopic analysis

Procédés de fabricationIndex. décimale : 668.5 Parfums et cosmétiques Résumé : For over 35 years, Nature has been at the heart of the company business. Each SILAB active ingredient starts its history as a natural raw material, a source of active molecules capable of endogenously reactivating the skin's original resources.
For each development, SILAB guarantees a perfect mastery of natural, from the raw material up to the manufactured ingredient, corresponding to the Mastering natural® program specifications. The resulting active ingredient is natural with no compromise on safety, quality and efficacy. These 3 parameters are considered very early in each active ingredient development.
The neck and décolleté area symbolizes femininity and needs to be cosseted with the application of adapted beauty care. This fragile area, exposed to the effects of time, gravity and external stresses, shows evidence of the early signs of aging. However, there is a lack of care dedicated to this body area.
The aim of this study was to develop a natural active ingredient, which is safe, of high quality, with identified active molecules and effective on biological markers involved in the appearance of sagging neck and décolleté skin.Note de contenu : - I.
