ZincIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : A series of Zn2+ based hydrophobic coordination polymers (CPs) have been synthesized by varying methylene spacers length (m = 1 to m = 6) of aliphatic dicarboxylic acids followed by reaction with the zinc acetate by using hydrothermal method. The synthesized CPs were coated on the mild steel (MS) specimens to investigate the effect of methylene spacers length of dicarboxylic acids on hydrophobicity and corrosion behavior. The synthesized CPs and their coatings on MS have been characterized by various instrumental techniques such as Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD), Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscopy (FE-SEM), water contact angle (WCA) measurements. FTIR and PXRD measurements confirm the formation of CPs whereas the FE-SEM images of suberic acid polymer (SUAP) reveal compact distribution of sphere-like aggregates. WCA measurements showed that the bare MS including CPs coatings on MS up to methylene spacers length m = 4 is hydrophilic in nature; however, the coating of longest methylene spacers length CP (SUAP, m = 6) showed hydrophobic nature with water contact angle of ~ 108.6°. Furthermore, the obtained hydrophobic SUAP CP with polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) as binder was coated on MS to study its anticorrosion behavior for the protection of MS. The anticorrosion performance of the developed SUAP coating was investigated by open-circuit potential (OCP) and potentiodynamic polarization techniques. The corrosion rate has been calculated from potentiodynamic polarization curves for the bare MS and SUAP coated MS showed significant improvement in the anticorrosion behavior of the developed SUAP coating. Spectroscopie d'impédance électrochimiqueIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : In this work a corrosion protection material formed by commercial benzoxazine and polyaniline (PAni) for coatings applications was developed. PAni doped with a natural phenolic compound, cardanol, was used in the coating preparation, and conventional hydrochloric acid-doped PAni was also used for comparative purposes. Cardanol is a reddish-brown liquid obtained from the by-product of cashew nut processing. The presence of the aliphatic group and the hydroxyl of the cardanol, as well as the amine groups of the PAni, can enhance the corrosion barrier of a benzoxazine coatings. The anticorrosive properties of the coatings were evaluated by electrochemical impedance spectroscopy in 3.5% NaCl solution for a total period of 168 h. The coatings of benzoxazine filled with PAni showed better anticorrosion performance and adhesion strength on carbon steel substrate when compared to pristine benzoxazine and PAni doped with 3 wt% cardanol exhibits the best performances. This last result can be explained by both the presence of PAni and the better PAni dispersion within benzoxazine when doped with cardanol. In addition, the incorporation of cardanol-doped PAni in the benzoxazine reduced the cure temperature of the benzoxazine.

Polymères -- SynthèseIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : The polyaniline/nanodiamond (PANI/ND) nanocomposite coating was synthesized on mild steel via electrochemical polymerization using cyclic voltammetry technique. The ultrasonic irradiation was used for effectively dispersing ND particles in electropolymerization solution. The prepared nanocomposite films were found to be nano-colloidal, and very adherent with low porosity. X-ray diffraction and FTIR techniques confirmed the intercalation of the nanoparticles in PANI matrix. The corrosion performance of the coatings was investigated in 3.5% NaCl solution by electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), polarization, and salt spray methods. The obtained results showed that the presence of ND particles significantly enhanced the corrosion protection performance of the PANI films in corrosive medium. EIS and polarization measurements indicated that the coating resistance and corrosion resistance values for the PANI/ND nanocomposite coating were much higher than that of pure PANI-coated electrode. Also, the results obtained revealed that the protection efficiency of PANI/ND-coated mild steel is achieved about 90% after 3 days. The porosity in PANI/ND nanocomposite coating is almost 18 times lower than that of the PANI coating. Note de contenu : - Electrochemical synthesis of polyaniline on mild steel

PolyuréthanesIndex. décimale : 668.5 Parfums et cosmétiques Résumé : A new set of proprietary brush-type polyurethanes (Intercoshine family) with aliphatic side chains based on alkyl tartrate diol in a mixture of cosmetically accepted organic solvent (e.g. isododecane, ethanol) has been synthesised in a mixture of volatile aliphatic solvents accepted in cosmetic (isododecane and ethanol).
The composition of the polymers was varied, by changing the diisocyanate building block (IPDI and HDI) and the diol combined with the branched aliphatic allryl tartrate and three different polyurethanes, namely Intercoshine, Intercoshine Flex and Intercoshine Sil, were obtained.
Mechanical tests, gloss measurements and water contact angle were performed. The polymers here presented can generate extremely glossy and hydrophobic films, with elastic and adhesion properties that can be varied according to the properties of the nature of the building blocks and the composition.
Intercoshine polymers can be used as film-formers in anhydrous formulations (eg. lip fluid, eyeliner) or in W/0 and W/S emulsions conferring at the same time an extreme long-lasting and a very glossy finish combined with high skin adhesion wearing comfort.Note de contenu : - FIGURES : 1. Antimicrobiens
(Wikipedia)

VoltampérométrieIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : In this study, the synthesis of cyclodextrin-based hyperbranched polyester (CD-based HBPE) was prepared by a simple condensation route via acid chloride approach (Scheme 1). The formation of ester linkages in CD-based HBPE was clearly identified from FTIR and NMR spectroscopy. The resulting structure and the molecular weight of the CD-based HBPE were confirmed with LC–MS analysis. The CD-based HBPE displayed the fluorescence maxima in the 425 nm range with relatively narrow peak widths indicating that they had pure and intense fluorescence. The antimicrobial activity of the CD-based HBPE was evaluated against the Gram-negative organisms like Escherichia coli and Salmonella paratyphi, Gram-positive organisms as Bacillus subtilis and Staphylococcus aureus and fungi such as Aspergillus niger, and Candida albicans. CD-based HBPE showed a great inhibitory effect toward both bacteria and fungi. The microorganism which possess greater antimicrobial activity with standard antibiotics was selected for determining the minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) value of the CD-based HBPE. Therefore, the MIC value of the CD-based HBPE against B. subtilis was tested and found to be 31.25 μg mL−1. Hence, it is suggested that CD-based HBPE holds good agreement with the antimicrobial assay.
