Revêtement autoréparant:Peinture autoréparanteIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : The development and study of new smart materials is an emergent research area with high potential applications. In this study, we have fabricated poly(ethyleneimine)/poly(acrylic acid) multilayer films on glass substrates by automated spray-layer-by-layer (spray-LbL) technique. By analyzing the changes in thickness, roughness and elasticity, with fine-tuning of the operational parameters of the spray-LbL system, evident trends of its effect on the multilayer construction were observed. In the case of its mechanical properties, the stability of Young’s modulus (up to 8.25 GPa) from film thickness at this scale was detected, making it variable for other factors such as pH and molecular weight. This work also identified the healability phenomenon that is present in the exponentially grown PEI/PAA samples, based on the reduction in viscosity of the polymer complexes and the interdiffusion of polyelectrolytes at the damaged zones in the presence of water. These properties allow for the assembly of a highly electrically conductive multilayered film by dispersion of a top layer of silver nanowires whose sheet resistance is increased around 5% after multiple damaging events. These experimental results provide new data for the evaluation and design of polyelectrolyte multilayers assembled with a spin-assisted automated spray deposition system to serve as substrates for mechanoelectrical devices which can benefit from its self-healing and modulated mechanical capabilities. Revêtement métalliqueIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : TiO2/Ti/TiN multicompositional coating was prepared by DC reactive magnetron sputtering (MS) at a temperature of 150°C using a combination of a Ti metal target and a pure Ar, an Ar–O2 mixture, or an Ar–N2 mixture discharge gas, onto a Silicon(100) substrate. This system represents nano-structured multilayer substrate model for biomedical application as well as substrate models to reproduce the bulk titanium surface. This substrate model (Ti/TiN/Si(100)) makes possible and easy mechanical and microscopic characterization in particular for transmission electron microscopy after biocompatible test. The model multilayer TiO2/Ti/TiN/(100) was obtained after preparation of two intermediate samples: TiN/Si(100) and Ti/TiN/Si(100). Structural (X-ray diffraction), morphological (scanning electron and atomic force microscopy) as well as mechanical (hardness and elastic modulus) studies of the MS films were performed. Polyéthylène basse densité linéaireIndex. décimale : 668.4 Plastiques, vinyles Résumé : Multilayer films consisting of a core layer of nylon 6 (PA6) sandwiched between two linear low density polyethylene (LLDPE) layers by using a tie layer were produced using a semi industrial cast film extrusion line. The core layer of the films was produced from neat PA6 and PA6/clay nanocomposite resins. The films were consequently uniaxially stretched in machine direction. The effect of stretching on crystalline structure, orientation as well as mechanical and barrier properties of the samples were investigated. Orientation of the films for both layers: polyethylene and nylon was assessed using FTIR (Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy) and it was found that clay inclusion hindered orientation of the core nylon layer. Interaction of nylon molecules with clay influences the crystalline structure for nylon/clay nanocomposite film during the stretching as it hindered crystal transformation of γ to α phase. The effect of clay interaction on phase structure was also observed in DSC (Dynamic Scanning Calorimetry) results. Stretching improved barrier to oxygen for the samples. Oxygen transmission rate was reduced about 62.5% for the films having a nylon core and 50% for those with nylon/clay core when stretched to a draw ratio of 1.5 and remained nearly constant for higher draw ratios up to 3. Haze of the films was reduced with stretching; however the effect was more effective for the sample with neat nylon in the core layer when compared to the nylon/clay core one. Finally, it was observed that puncture resistance of the samples was improved significantly with stretching.
