The latter comprises the conveying the adhesive from the drum, the pipe system, the dispensing, and the application of the adhesive bead. Whilst detailed knowledge about the mechanical properties of cured adhesives is readily available, relatively little known about the non-cured adhesives whilst they are being processed. RhéométrieIndex. décimale : 668.5 Parfums et cosmétiques Résumé : - METHODS : FT4 Powder Rheometer from Freeman Technology was utilized to explore various powder compositions. The three major tests performed were flowability test, compressibility test and shear cell test.
- RESULTS : The results highlight that the sample which has higher compressibility has the better cake strength, and the sample which requires lower total energy has better pay‐off. Particles or samples with lower total flow energy, should have easier flow, therefore, should have better pay-off. Samples and components with higher compressibility, should hold the structure better, therefore, should have better cake strength. Talc has the highest compressibility and lowest flow energy. Foundation sample 5 has the highest concentration of talc and also has the best performance.
- CONCLUSIONS : The lower the total flow energy, the easier it is for the powder to flow, and have better pay-off. Powder compressibility correlates with cake strength which means that a sample with better compressibility consequently has the better cake strength. Samples 5 and 10 require less total flow energy, have lower shear stress, and higher compressibility, therefore, have better final performance. Both samples 5 and 10 have higher talc concentrations compared to other formulations.DOI : https://doi.org/10.1111/ics.12608 Permalink : https://e-campus.itech.fr/pmb/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=34511

Mesure de pression-volume-températureIndex. décimale : 668.9 Polymères Résumé : Pressure and temperature dependency of shear and elongation viscosity and the thermal expansivity and the compressibility determined from PVT data were investigated for propylene homo- and propylene-1-pentene, -1-hexene, 1-heptene and -nonene copolymers and ethylene homopolymer and ethylene-1-butene, 1-pentene and 1-hexene copolymers. The short branching degree dependence of thermal sensitivity and pressure coefficient and the thermal expansivity and the compressibility has been determined. The fractional free volumes were calculated from the viscosity and PVT curves and the thermal expansion coefficient and compressibility factor of fractional free volume were determined. The temperature, pressure and stress dependence of fractional free volume was investigated. The fractional free volume calculated from viscosity data were compared from values comes from PVT measurement. A conversion equation was suggested. RhéométrieIndex. décimale : 532.05 Mécanique des fluides et des liquides - Dynamique (cinétique et cinématique) Résumé : Capillary rheometry tests do not always yield straight plots of measured pressure versus die length-to-diameter ratio (the so-called Bagley plots). By considering a pressure dependent viscosity of molten polymers, a model is developed that allows to easily treat Pmeas vs. L/D data in order to directly obtain the ends (entrance and exit) pressure loss, the wall shear stress (at zero pressure) and a parameter β. The latter is the compressibility factor when there are no slip effects. The model is successfully used to treat either original or published experimental data. With filled rubber compounds containing various levels of processing aids (lubricants), negative β values are obtained in the low shear rate range, which demonstrates that wall slip and compressibility are antagonistic effects in capillary rheometry. By fitting the model (through non-linear regression) to capillary rheometer data, a non-ambiguous data treatment is then proposed, with the advantages of simplicity and no hypothesis about the flow behaviour of the material.
