Solvants organiquesIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : A review of the issues in achieving good rheological behaviour in compliant coatings is presented, particularly with respect to pigment dispersion. Polymeric dispersants have been specifically developed to overcome some of the problems posed by changes in technology and reduce the effect of the dispersed pigment on the rheology of the finished paint or ink. Examples are discussed on multi-compatible solvent tinters, UV systems and high solids coatings. Note de contenu : - Structure and function of polymeric dispersants : - The polymer chains sterically stabilise the pigment; - The surface of inorganic pigments is more reactive than the surface of organic pigments
- Benefits of using polymeric dispersants : - A positive impact on the rheology; - Reduced milling time
- Use of polymeric disperants in industrial tinters : - Improved compatibility with base paints; - Improved breadth of polymeric dispersant compatibility
- Reduction of solvent (VOC) in high solids coatings
- Polymeric dispersants reduce the interparticulate attraction between the pigment particules
- UV Inks and Coatings : - Overcome deficiencies using polymeric dispersantsPermalink : https://e-campus.itech.fr/pmb/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=11042

The prepared modified prepolymers were terminated using amino-polyether (Jeffamine M-2070) and maleic acid-modified polyethylene glycol “PEG 1000” to obtain dispersing agents for water-based disperse dye inkjet inks. Dispersants T1–T5 (based on TMP), dispersants G1–G5 (glycerol) and dispersants C1–C5 (castor oil) were characterized using FTIR to monitor the reaction progress. Inkjet inks made using these dispersants were characterized by particle size, dynamic surface tension, rheology profile and accelerated stability against commercial dispersant. The results revealed that glycerol and TMP-based dispersants provided optimum performance as compared to commercial standard, while castor oil-based dispersants failed the wettability and dispersion stability tests. Noir de carboneIndex. décimale : 667.3 Teinture et impression des tissus Résumé : Drop-on-demand ink-jet inks prepared from dyes usually show inadequate light and water fastness. Thus, in our previous paper, we studied black pigmented ink-jet inks with the aim of overcoming the drawbacks of dye-based ink by employing a variety of synthetic dispersants with gas black. In this study, pigmented ink-jet inks were prepared by a combination of the synthetic dispersant and the surface treatments of a furnace black that is more common than gas blacks. The results of this study show that the surface treatment of the furnace black and the use of the synthetic dispersant are useful in the preparation of ink-jet inks and endow them with properties that are comparable with those of commercial ink-jet inks. Textiles et tissus synthétiquesIndex. décimale : 667.3 Teinture et impression des tissus Résumé : Due to the hazardous impact of ultraviolet (UV) light, textiles with UV‐protective properties are in great demand. This paper is related to the equipment of polyester textiles, with three different organic and water‐insoluble UV absorbers containing a cinnamate basic structure. To apply the UV absorbers from water‐based recipes, they are combined with polyethylene glycol PEG200 and different dispersing agents. The application onto two different polyester textiles is performed with a conventional high temperature process driven at 130°C with a process duration of more than 1 hour. Alternatively, an innovative microwave‐assisted process of a shorter duration of only 15 minutes is performed at 130°C. This microwave process is performed under solvothermal conditions using a CEM discover microwave machine. The sample evaluation is performed by UV‐visible spectroscopy in an arrangement of diffusive transmission with a special view of the spectral region from 300 to 500 nm. Finally, polyester fabrics with enhanced UV‐protective properties are realised. It is possible to decrease the diffusive transmission for the complete range of UV light to values of smaller than 5%. By contrast, the influence on the interaction with visible light is low, so the coloration properties of the treated polyester fabrics are less affected. The developed process can be used to realise polyester fabrics for various UV‐protective applications by a simple approach. The developed microwave process allows a decrease in process duration to more than 75% compared with the analogously presented high temperature process.
