Revêtements décoratifsIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Solid-state lighting in the form of light emitting diode lamps is quickly taking over the world as replacements for existing lower efficiency lamps. The lighting standards, which phased in from 2012 to 2014, do not ban incandescent or any specific lamp type, but they do require that lamps need to use about 25% less energy. The bipartisan Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007 (EISA 2007) established these efficiency standards. Many commercial lamps meet these new standards, including halogen incandescent filament, CFLs, and LEDs. The new bulbs provide a wide range of choices in color and brightness, and many of them last much longer than traditional lamps. However, the spectral distribution of flux from some of these new lamps do not match or even correspond to the spectral power distribution of traditional office and home lighting. In this review, the impact of the new lamp lights on the design, marketing, and production of modern decorative coatings is assessed. The decorative coatings industry has followed recommended guidelines for many decades, producing color-matches that are acceptable under a series of standard illuminants (D65, CWF, A) which are representative of the lamp lights in most common facilities. The new solid-state lamps do not render object colors in ways similar to the currently adopted standardized illuminants. The primary obstacle to the coatings manufacturer is the lack of standards on how to test color-matches for quality conformance under the new lamp lights. As the energy efficient lighting industry is currently still in a technologically developing phase, it appears that it will be some time before any agreements on the characteristics of modern lamp light will be reached. Therefore, guidance is provided on creating and/or using illuminant data representative of these lamps until official reference illuminants are published. Index. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : The cleaning of decorative surfaces, e.g., on furniture or in automotive industry, is a time-consuming process with high maintenance costs that partly requires special cleaning chemicals as well as a laborious manual effort. To ease the cleaning process, easy-to-clean coatings are intensively discussed and an enormous demand of this surface functionalization in different fields of applications is forecasted by all industrial branches. Therefore, a novel and durable easy-to-clean coating based on a UV-curable clearcoat with incorporated SiO2 particles and a thin functional polymer coating based on a zwitterionic phosphorylcholine was developed. The coating can be applied on PVC foils as well as PET foils and subsequently transferred to different decorative surfaces, e.g., via lamination or bonding. The developed three-step application process consists of a lacquering step with UV curing, a plasma surface modification, and the deposition of a thin functional polymer layer. It can be easily integrated in industrial printing or roll-to-roll processes, which are normally used for foil functionalization. With the presented coating, it is possible to remove oil impurities from the functionalized foil by pure water without the necessity of cleaning surfactants. Furthermore, the thermal, chemical, and mechanical durability of the coating will be discussed. Revêtements en bâtimentIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : The decorative service life of architectural exterior coatings is often determined by the onset of large colour shifts or visible chalking of the coating. Here, the authors report three-year Florida and accelerated weathering results for a series of 70% poly(vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF) coatings made with a palette of relatively weatherable organic pigments. Many of these coatings show minimal visible colour change after three years in Florida, and 6000 hours accelerated weathering. Surprisingly, the more aggressive UV-B bulb exposure, unlike UV-A bulb exposure, shows a high degree of statistical correlation with the three-year colour shift in Florida. For most of these systems, UV absorber/HALS (hindered amine light stabiliser) packages do not improve the performance, but a 70% PVDF clear coat does. This paper covers structure of smart pigments and the important phenomena of smart materials on which it works. Smart group of materials refers to those which change their colour in response to a change in their environment, leading to the suffix "chromic". A variety of chromic materials exist and thus its various effects has been given like thermochromic, photochromic, piezochromic, electrochromic, solvatechromic, Carsolchromic, chronochromic, vapochromic, gas-chromic, tribo-chromic, etc. Applications of Smart pigments in interior & exterior decorative water based paints which consist of heat-activated paint for colour-changing interior designs to enhance the decoration effect of houses. It also includes smart humidity indicator pigments SHIs which are unique nano-materials with a moisture-sensitive nano-structure embedded in a polymer coating matrix resulting in color change. Revêtements décoratifs:Peinture décorativeIndex. décimale : 667.2 Colorants et pigments Résumé : Today patina effect constitutes an important tool in industrial design. Apart from the aesthetic appearance and practical protection of patination, an object is perceived as having greater value if it looks as it has aged slowly and well. In the interior design industry there is a demand for objects that appear to have a long history or which represent long time periods. Decorative coatings providing patina effect, antique appearance or a weathered look are becoming increasingly popular. Note de contenu : - New effect pigments for a rusty look
