A rapid way to measure wet opacity straight after application has been developed. Note de contenu : - Development of a wet opacity test method
- Non-contact measurement
- High accuracyand excellent correlation with visual assessments
- Wet opacity rises with TiO2 content

Revêtements organiquesIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : White paints commonly use titanium dioxide for its excellent hiding power, but the industry needs new approaches. One option is to carefully combine minerals of the right particle size, shape, porosity and structure to allow optimised light scattering. This will help formulators improve paint properties such as opacity, whiteness and gloss with minimal or zero TiO2, whilst meeting mechanical requirements. Note de contenu : - Practical assessment of scattering pores or air voids
- Richt mineral composition influences particle packing
- Mineral shape and size optimise scattering
- A balancing act between opacity and scrub resistance in high PVC paints
- Further performance optimisation without TiO2
