Pigments organiquesIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Global use of lead chromates has significantly declined in recent years due to the toxicity of the pigments. In the past decade alone, the quantity used has declined by more than half, down from 90.000t in 2000. However, due to the excellent price/performance of the lead chromates and the partial use of the pigments in colour mixing systems, complete replacement has not yet happened. The recent approval requirement for REACH annex XIV in May 2015 has now increased the focus on the issue of alternative formulation concepts once more. Titre : Lead is dead : Maintain opacity and durability and expand the colour range with new pigment chemistries Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Mark Ryan, Auteur Année de publication : 2013 Article en page(s) : p. 74-78 Langues : Anglais (eng) Catégories : Etain

PyrochloreIndex. décimale : 667.2 Colorants et pigments Résumé : A new pigment chemistry, niobium tin pyrochlore yellow, has been developed that expands the envelope of durable colours available in paints and coatings. It has the chromaticity and brightness of organic pigments and the opacity and durability of inorganic pigments. The new yellow is complemented by improvements in rutile tin zinc to increase its red value. Together these pigments provide an alternative to lead chromate pigments and expand the envelope of durable colours in the yellow and orange colour space. Note de contenu : - High chroma

Test d'immersionIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : The pursuit of low-cost manufacturing of newly effective pigments is a pressing economic need. Thus, in this work, low-cost ZnFe2O4 spinel nanoparticles (ZF-NPs) with an average diameter of 20 nm were successfully synthesized using a simple sol–gel method, which can be extended for large-scale fabrication of a reddish nano pigment. TGA/DTA, XRD, DRS, HRTEM, and SEM/EDX investigations were used to characterize the as-prepared product. The color of synthesized NPs was studied using CIE L*a*b* colorimetric method with color coordinates of L* = 41.7, a* = 72.2, and b* = 48.8. The newly developed pigment was examined to be superior to the traditional pigment (M6001/Fe2O3: L* = 30.4, a* = 42.16, and b* = 45.7). After that, the synthesized nano pigment was integrated into both ink and paint formulations as a multifunctional coating. The inclusion of synthesized nano pigment in metal coating printing ink formulation was done to produce a good alternative and cost-effective substitute for the commercially available pigment used in the inks industry. Also, the effect of the fabricated nanoparticles on corrosion resistance and thermal stability of epoxy-based paint formulations was evaluated using different standard tests. Therefore, the ZnFe2O4 pigment should be applied as a highly efficient inorganic nano pigment. Revêtements en bâtiment:Peinture en bâtimentIndex. décimale : 667.2 Colorants et pigments Résumé : The author discusses how the right inorganic pigment can be the right solution for exterior painting tinting systems.
Colour is an excellent way of personalising your home, helping your company's brand stand out or expressing how you Peel.
High public demand for colour has been confirmed by market research on pigments, which show not only an increase in demand for colour but also the considerable potential for a wide range of hues, as a resuit of the colour solutions available.
One of the rnost common ways of incorporating organic and inorganic pigments into paint is dispersion in liquid. The pigment or pigment paste to be used must be chosen carefully and accurately on the basis of the context in which it is to be used.
When exterior colour is called for (so-called façade paints) the choice of pigment is crucial to the development of tinting systems because it is necessary to guarantee the paint's performance when it is exposed to environmental conditions, such as rain, sun, heat and cold.
Tinting system development hinges on the need to encompass the greatest range of colours in the widest variety of available paints and products (acrylic and alkyl paints, etc) including mineral paints (silicate and silicone-based) and external thermal insulation systems (External Thermal Insulation Composite Systems, ETICS).
Clearly the challenge is in obtaining the widest range of colours possible, whilst maintaining high performance standards for exterior
In this article I will attempt to analyse the delicate equilibrium, which exists between the chemical make-up and the structure of inorganic pigments, their colour hues, their pigmentation capacity and their performance when exposed to the sort of atmospheric conditions and aggressive environments characteristic of outdoor surfaces.Note de contenu : - Exterior paints
