Here, the authors report three-year Florida and accelerated weathering results for a series of 70% poly(vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF) coatings made with a palette of relatively weatherable organic pigments. Many of these coatings show minimal visible colour change after three years in Florida, and 6000 hours accelerated weathering. Surprisingly, the more aggressive UV-B bulb exposure, unlike UV-A bulb exposure, shows a high degree of statistical correlation with the three-year colour shift in Florida. For most of these systems, UV absorber/HALS (hindered amine light stabiliser) packages do not improve the performance, but a 70% PVDF clear coat does. The simulation capability of fiber concentration prediction has been made available in mold-filling analysis software, Moldex3D for users to gain a more comprehensive fiber microstructure analysis for their FRP product designs. The study described in this paper demonstrates the importance of fiber concentration factor and how the simulation prediction helps users better evaluate the product quality and strength when using fiber-reinforced materials.

Index. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Coatings are designed for and applied on a surface for both aesthetics and protection of the substrate. Many properties are measured to indicate performance, and eventual failure, of coating under these two broad categories. Monte Carlo simulations have shown success in predicting trends in macroscopic properties during exposure. The Central Limit Theorem (CLT) is applicable because damage made to a coating can come from the accumulation of a vast number of very small damage events. Application of the CLT to property equations has generated additional equations for the prediction of properties of coating with exposure, including measurable properties such as gloss, color, fracture toughness, and contact angle. These equations, when fitted to measured data, provide insight into the mechanisms of degradation processes, since the fitting parameters are physically based. They also offer a means to scale accelerated testing measurements to early field measurements of the property of interest for predicting lifetime in varied environments. Prévision, Théorie de laIndex. décimale : 667.2 Colorants et pigments Résumé : Use of the Ti-Pure select TS-6300, a new highly treated TiO2, allowing optimal paint performance, while controlling costs and describe the development of a calculator supporting paint formulation work.
Highly treated 7102 grades are very effective in enhancing the hiding power of flat points by increasing Ti02 scattering efficiency through reduced Tr02 crowding and by enhancing air pore hiding contribution. A computer model has been developed to facilitate paint formulation with Ti-Pure Select TS-6300 by predicting key point properties depending on point composition and T102 type. This model can help minimise lab work required to achieve a formulation with optimised performance and cost.Note de contenu : - Fig. 1 : Relative scattering power as function of TiO2 particle separation
