Tension superficielleIndex. décimale : 668.1 Agents tensioactifs : savons, détergents Résumé : A lactobionamide-based polysiloxane surfactant (LBPS) with well-defined structure was prepared via a two-step method. Structure characterization of the LBPS was performed by Fourier Transform Infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) and proton nuclear magnetic resonance (1H NMR). Surface activity and aggregation behavior in aqueous solution of the LBPS were investigated by surface tension measurements, dynamic light scattering (DLS) and negative-stain transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The results show that the critical micelle concentration (CMC) and surface tension (γCMC) at the CMC in aqueous solution of the LBPS are 7.7 mg · L–1 and 27.5 mN · m–1, respectively, and the surfactants can self-assemble into spherical micelles with diameters in the range from 30 to 250 nm.

Transition vitreuseIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : A novel hybrid diol (HD) crosslinker has been synthesized with hydrolyzable –Si–OR groups from 3-amino propyl trimethoxy silane and 3-glycidoxy propyl trimethoxy silane. Its chemical structure was confirmed by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, 1H and 13C nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy to introduce it as a crosslinker in the castor oil, a renewable resource, to develop functional organic inorganic hybrid coatings. A series of castor oil-based organic–inorganic hybrid materials were prepared from castor oil, isophorone diisocyanate, and the different weight percentages of synthesized HD. Dynamic mechanical thermal analysis, thermogravimetric analysis, differential scanning calorimetry, and the universal testing machine were employed to characterize the hybrid films. The measured properties were found to be strongly influenced by the weight ratio of HD to the castor oil-based polyurethanes. The glass transition temperatures (T g) for the cured hybrid films were found to be 26–72°C. Antibacterial activity, in vitro hydrolytic degradation, and swelling properties of the hybrid films have been studied. The cured hybrid films exhibited excellent antibacterial activity, which was enhanced with addition of the HD. The alkoxy silane-crosslinked castor oil-based coatings have shown better mechanical and viscoelastic properties in comparison to the control (uncrosslinked castor oil-based polyurethane-urea) coatings. The results showed that the weight percent of the HD is the main factor that controls the thermal, antimicrobial, mechanical, swelling, and degradation properties of these hybrid films. The modification was achieved by crosslinking the hydroxyl group of PSil and ethoxy group of PU in the presence of di-n-butyltin dilaurate. The chemical structure of PU was analyzed by Fourier Transform Infrared and Hydrogen-1 Nuclear Magnetic Resonance spectroscopic methods. A series of modified silicone resins (MSRs) have been synthesized and investigated. The molecular weights of the resins were determined by means of gel permeation chromatography. The morphology of the MSR studied by scanning electron microscopy has shown that the resin containing 30% of PU has a small particle size and a good particle size distribution. The adhesion and the mechanical properties of the resins containing 20, 30, and 40% of PU have shown a good performance. Using thermogravimetric analysis, the thermal properties and the thermal degradation of the MSR were investigated. VinyltriméthoxysilaneIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : In the present study, vinyltrimethoxysilane was used to modify high-ortho novolac resin (NR) to obtain a vinyl silicone-modified phenolic oligomer (Si-mod NR). Subsequently, this oligomer is polymerized with methyl methacrylate. The mid-products (NR and Si-mod NR) and synthesized silicone-modified phenolic/acrylic resin (Ac/Si-mod NR) were characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, and thermal properties were investigated by using thermal gravimetric analysis and differential scanning calorimetry techniques. In addition, the surface coating properties, including drying, hardness, adhesion, impact resistance, gloss, acid, alkaline, water, and solvent resistance of the films prepared from these products, were comparatively investigated. The results showed that the modification reactions yield a novel resin (Ac/Si-mod NR), which can be easily used as a surface coating material with high thermal resistance, flexibility, and excellent film properties. Index. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Thirteen organic coatings with three base polymers (epoxy, polysiloxane, polyurethane) were tested in a load-controlled Taber abrasion tester at different normal force levels (2.5 to 25 N). Abrasive wear functions, as well as two partial abrasive wear resistance coefficients, were estimated. Results of scanning electron microscopy (SEM) investigations indicated that both plastic deformation mechanisms and fracture mechanisms caused material removal during the abrasive wear of the materials. The predominant and rate-controlling mechanism depended on normal force and polymer type. Abrasive wear in terms of coating layer thickness loss, as well as the probability of fracture/cracking-based material removal mechanisms, increased with increasing normal force. The ranking of abrasive wear resistance was as follows : epoxy > polysiloxane > polyurethane. The relationship between abrasive wear and normal force followed a power law with power exponents between 0.45 and 1.4. The power exponents were found to depend on the polymer types. The type of polymer was very important for low normal forces, whereas the importance of polymer variation vanished for the higher normal forces. Note de contenu : - EXPERIMENTAL SETUP :
