Spectres d'absorptionIndex. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : A commercial leather dye was encapsulated into silica by simple microemulsion technique and applied as dyeing agent in leather dyeing process. Comparative studies on the performance of free dye (non-encapsulated) towards encapsulated dye are evaluated. The resultant formation of nanospheres contain dye inside the silica matrix was investigated by UV-Visible, TEM (Transmission Electron Microscopy) and DLS (Dynamic Light Scattering) measurement. The confinement effect was identified by the formation of spherical particles of the silica through encapsulation. On whole the spectroscopic studies showed that the formed silica nanospheres are stable enough to utilize as dyeing agent in leather dyeing process. The performance of encapsulated nanospheres was evaluated by utilizing as dyeing agent for upper and garment leather processing. The dye entrapped inside the silica spheres had better affinity towards the leather as demonstrated by their uniform penetration throughout its cross section and its surface coloring. The dyeing properties of the encapsulated dye were appraised by color and fastness measurement. The results showed that the dyeing characteristics of the experimental leathers were greatly improved by using encapsulated dyes versus their control leathers. Hence the idea of supporting commercial dye on/inside polymeric silica substrate enriched the leather dyeing characteristics and provide the clue for any dye for any substrate.r Note de contenu : - MATERIALS AND METHODS : Synthesis of nanocolloids contain dye encapsulated silica nanospheres - Characterization of encapsulated dye containing silica nanospheres - Evaluation of encapsulated dyes in leather dyeing - Photograph of the leather surface and cross section - Measurement of reflectance of coloured leather - Fastness property of coloured leather - Analysis of permeability of leather - Softness measurement of coloured leather

SemiconducteursIndex. décimale : 667.3 Teinture et impression des tissus Résumé : Novel, tunable solid-state emitters based on anthracene groups were synthesised and characterised by spectroscopy and elemental analysis. Their solid-state photoluminescence properties were studied. These fluorophores display interesting solid-state emission properties with an emission at wavelengths ranging from 550 to 650 nm when excited by a 325 nm helium–cadmium laser at room temperature. In particular, among them, 1,6-di(9-anthryl)hexa-1,5-diene-3,4-dione, 2-[4-(2-benzoxazolyl)phenyl]-4,5-bis[2-(9-anthryl)vinyl]-1H-imidazole and 2,3-bis[2-(9-anthryl)vinyl]quinoxaline show red, yellow and green emission, respectively, at 650, 584 and 550 nm. The results demonstrated that the luminescent colours can be tuned from red to yellow and green by simply varying molecular structure. Besides, 1,6-di(9-anthryl)hexa-1,5-diene-3,4-dione also exhibited an upconverted red fluorescent emission peak at around 675 nm under femtosecond excitation at 800 nm. SurfactantsIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : The trend to rationalise paint production has led to a widespread use of a "universal colorant". A tinting system for a wide range of shades will be able to respond to the majority of user's requirements, reducing at the same time expensive and unwanted stock.
Nowadays, universal colorants are offered that meet the high quality standards of modern surface coatings. In order to obtain optimal results, it is necessary that the universal colorants are totally compatible with aqueous as well as with non aqueous paint system and remain stable upon storage. But even the best of these colorants may require some modification of paint base in order to obtain the satisfactory tinting. Otherwise, they would show problems of colour developments. When the tint bases are properly formulated, these colorants can be used for inplant shading, in retail outlets and in small batch operations that use dispensing colorant machines, thereby producing paints with a great variety of shades for the end user, with minimal inventory cost.Note de contenu : - Background

The ternary mixture (Water – ethanol – ethyl acetate) reported in this study provided for good solubility/dispersion of leather chemicals. Average particle size of the syntan/dye in solvent / water remaining the same, particle size distribution of dyes and syntans was advantageous in the solvent medium, leading to better diffusion. Amongst various trials, neutralization of the leathers after tanning in solvent medium followed by use of neutralization syntans was found to be more advantageous to obtain leather properties comparable to conventional controls. The adsorption studies of dye used in the present study followed Freundlich model in both solvent and water medium indicates multilayer adsorption. Physical properties of the leathers were similar to that of control, indicating clearly that the solvent had no adversary effect on collagen and also provided for good diffusion and fixation of chemicals. The method thus reported in this study could provide for a minimum change approach to leather processing with ample contribution to water saving.
