The in-situ polymerization of some monomers has proven to be an effective approach in constructing an interpenetrating network (IPN) in split and increasing its strength. But this method is almost unacceptable in practice because of the use of volatile monomers and organic solvents. In this study, a new method to construct the IPN structure in split, in-situ recombination, was developed. Polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) was used as compositing agent, and its molecular structure and modification conditions were optimized. Scanning electron microscope (SEM), potentiometric analyzer and differential scanning calorimeter (DSC) were used to characterize the mechanism of in-situ recombination. The results suggested that PVA with an average polymerization degree of 500 and an average alcoholysis degree of 88% could enhance the strength of split most effectively through compositing reaction of PVA and split in 5% PVA aqueous solution for 120 min under 80°C and pH 7.0. The IPN structure was successfully constructed between PVA and collagen fibers via in-situ recombination. A method to enhance the strengths of leather split with practical application was established. The effect of photooxidation on polyethylene films with and without pro-oxidant was estimated by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction analysis, Differential scanning calorimeter measurements and the tensile properties. It was observed that UV irradiation had almost no effect on the melting temperature of the different samples. After exposure, the degree of crystallinity increased from 69% to 72% for the initial polyethylene samples without pro-oxidant additive and by 3% for the samples containing iron (III) acetylacetonate. It was found that the increase in the carbonyl index of initial HDPE was not significant even after 60?h exposure to UV irradiation while samples with pro-oxidant suffered substantial degradation still for 35?h. It was observed that the decrease of the tensile strength is more pronounced for the samples with pro-oxidant under irradiation for 60 to 70?h. The films containing pro-oxidant lose ?90% of its initial elongation at break after 35?h exposure. Note de contenu : - Materials

les polyoléfines thermoplastiques semi-cristallines : polyéthylène (PE), polypropylène (PP), polyméthylpentène (PMP), polybutène-1 (PB-1) ;

Traction (mécanique)Index. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Since alkyd resins include hazardous solvents, converting alkyds into waterborne hybrid polymers is an essential research topic. Here, alkyd/styrene acrylic waterborne hybrid polymers were synthesized in the presence of monomers, water, emulsifiers, and an initiator by using synthesized alkyd resins at 0%, 5%, 10%, and 15% ratios based on the total monomer ratio. A mini-emulsion technique and a semi-batch polymerization method were used to synthesize the latexes. Two different biosources, tall oil fatty acids (TOFA) and hemp seed oils (HSO), were used to synthesize the alkyd resins. Synthesized waterborne hybrid latexes and their films were analyzed by using FTIR, NMR, particle size, MFFT, TGA, DSC, CA, AFM, and mechanical tests. It was determined that the type and concentration of the alkyds affected the viscosity, particle size, Tg and MFFT values, and appearance. It was also identified that alkyd incorporation took place with grafting and that the alkyd concentration was particularly effective in increasing the particle size. In addition, experiments were carried out on waterborne paint systems for exterior paint by using synthesized hybrid polymer emulsions. It was observed that the alkyd content was not effective in changing the paint color in hybrid latexes. As a result, it is suggested that hybrid waterborne latexes could be used for exterior paints.
