Index. décimale : 668.4 Plastiques, vinyles Résumé : EMS-Griltech's Grilon fibre and yarn and Griltex thermoplastic polymers are specifically designed for composite applications, performing either as adhésives, additives or matrix resins.

Traitement thermiqueIndex. décimale : 677.4 Textiles artificiels Résumé : PTT is an aromatic polyester which is manufactured by the condensation reaction of terephtalic acid and 1,3-propanediol. Some of the commercially available products are Corterra (COS, Texaco), Solotex (Asahi Kasai, Teijin) and Sorona (DuPont). Owing to 3 carbon atoms in diol structure, zig-zag configuration of polymer chain provides inherent elasticity. High stretch, bulk and softness of PTT support to use in sports and fashion applications. Commercially available drawn synthetic filaments have good tenacity and elasticity but they lack in dimensional stability. Therefore heat setting is essential, and is associated with modification in crystalline morphology. Note de contenu : - Load-elongation behavior of as received material

VinyltriméthoxysilaneIndex. décimale : 668.9 Polymères Résumé : The influence of hot water and the water-carrying agent aluminum potassium sulfate dodecahydrate (alum) on the mechanical and thermal properties of the silane-water crosslinked linear low density polyethylene (LLDPE) was investigated. LLDPE was melt-grafted with various content of vinyl trimethoxysilane (VTMS) using dicumyl peroxide (DCP) as initiator. The results show that the contribution of hot water to gel content is poor, about 2 to 16 %, compared with that of the silane grafted LLDPE. Is feasible to achieve silane-water crosslinking reaction with alum for self-crosslinked LLDPE; furthermore, the self-crosslinked LLDPE has lower crosslink density (m). It was found that alum could not only conduct silane-water crosslinking reaction effectively, but also improve the mechanical properties, especially the elongation behavior. The heat of fusion (DHm), the melting temperature (Tm), and the degree of crystallinity (Xc) of the hot water crosslinked LLDPE decreased with the advancement of VTMS. The Avrami exponent n of self-crosslinked sample was larger than that of hot water crosslinked sample. This means that the alum could contribute to the growth of crystallization. Traîtements de surfaceIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Mechanical properties of epoxy resin toughened with two different submicron particles of TiO2 at different weight fractions (1, 3, and 5%, respectively) were investigated. The first TiO2 particles are surface treated with Al2O3–SiO2, and the second are surface treated with Al2O3–ZrO2. The composites were characterized by tensile, flexural, pull off and abrasion tests, followed by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and scanning electron spectroscopy of the fracture surfaces. A small amount of TiO2 (~1%) submicron particles improves the flexural, abrasion and pull-off strengths, while amounts up to 5% significantly enhance tensile properties only. TiO2 particles surface treated with Al2O3–ZrO2 produce an epoxy composite with higher strength and weight loss but lower pull off strength and more brittle than that prepared with Al2O3–SiO2 particles. The TiO2 particles surface treated with Al2O3–SiO2 have a higher adherence to the epoxy composite matrix than the particles treated with Al2O3–ZrO2 as shown by scanning electron spectroscopy.
