(Wikipedia)Index. décimale : 668.5 Parfums et cosmétiques Résumé : Hyaluronic acid, a nonsulfated glycosaminoglycans, plays a key role in water retention in the extracellular matrix. Quantitative deficiency of hyaluronic acid in the skin promotes the signs of aging and therefore supplementation of hyaluronic acid is essential to facilitate skin rejuvenation. Unfortunately, hyaluronic acid does not readily enter cutaneous tissue by passive transport because of its high molecular weight. However, self-dissolving microneedles, which are needle-shaped structures designed to pierce the stratum corneum, can be used to deliver agents to the stratum corneum or epidermis and should be able to deliver hyaluronic acid.
In this study, we developed self-dissolving microneedles composed of hyaluronic acid for cosmetic use. Microscopic examination demonstrated that the tip of these hyaluronic acid microneedles reached the lower layer of the stratum corneum. Addition of hyaluronic acid to keratinocytes promoted celle proliferation and induced upregulation of profilaggrin gene expression. Hyaluronic acid synthase 1 mRNA was also upregulated by addition of hyaluronic aid to fibroblasts. Successive applications of self-dissolving microneedles to crow's feet for 4 weeks resulted in significant improvements in wrinkle formation and skin elasticity.
These findings suggest that introduction of hyaluronic acid into the stratum corneum with microneedles may be an effective approach for cosmetic improvement of wrinkles. Self-dissolving microneedles are also expected to be effective for transdermal delivery of other cosmetically active agents.Note de contenu : - EXPERIMENTAL : Materials - Microscopic study - Cell culture and real-time quantitative PCR - Evaluation of self-dissolving microneedles as an anti-wrinkle agent - Statistical analysis

Tests de sécuritéIndex. décimale : 668.5 Parfums et cosmétiques Résumé : - Objectives : Dissolving microneedle patches have been extensively studied in the field of cosmetics comparison with topical cosmetics focusing on the delivery of active ingredients. Nevertheless, the skin improvement effect of hyaluronic acid, which is mainly used as a backbone material for dissolving microneedle, was not analyzed. In this study, adenosine encapsulated high and low molecular weight hyaluronic acid dissolving microneedle patch (Ad-HMN and Ad-LMN) were evaluated with respect to skin wrinkling, dermal density, elasticity, and safety in a clinical test on the crow’s feet area.
- Methods : Clinical efficacy and safety tests were performed for 12 weeks on twenty three female subjects with wrinkles around their eyes. The Ad-HMN and Ad-LMN patch were applied once every 3 days, in the evening, for 8 weeks to the designated crow’s feet area. Skin wrinkling, dermal density, and elasticity were measured by using PRIMOS® premium, Dermascan®C, Cutometer® MPA580, and Corneometer® CM 825, respectively.
- Results : Both Ad-HMN and Ad-LMN groups showed statistically significant efficacy for almost all parameters. The Ad-HMN patch had better effect on the mean depth of biggest wrinkles, maximum depth of biggest wrinkles, dermal density, and skin elasticity than the Ad-LMN patch. No adverse effects were observed in either group during the test period.
- Conclusion : In the clinical efficacy test of four skin-improvement parameters, the Ad-HMN patch showed the better effect than the Ad-LMN patch with the similar adenosine dose.Note de contenu : - MATERIALS AND METHODS : Clinical test: skin wrinkle evaluation using three-dimensional visual aid - Morphology, dissolution rates and skin penetration analysis of Ad-HMN and Ad-LMN patches - Randomized clinical trial of Ad-HMN and Ad-LMN group - Fabrication of Ad-HMN and Ad-LMN patches - Statistical analysis - Clinical test: skin elasticity evaluation - Skin irritation and sensitization assessment - Clinical test : dermal density evaluation

Régénération (biologie)Index. décimale : 668.5 Parfums et cosmétiques Résumé : 2-O-glyceryl-3-O-octyl ascorbate (GO-VC) is a stable amphiphilic ascorbic acid (AsA) derivative in which AsA is bound with octanol, which has antibacterial activity, and glycerin, which has a moisturising effect. GO-VC has effects that have not been confirmed with conventional AsA derivatives, such as antibacterial / antiviral effects and epidermal barrier function-reinforcing effect, and many clinical results of acne, wrinkle and pigmentation improving effects by doctors have been obtained. In recent years, an epidermal regeneration-enhancing effect has also been found, which leads to improvement of skin problems such as dryness, acne, wrinkles and pigmentation. In other words, GO-VC has a wide variety of skin physiological effects. Therefore, GO-VC could add various skin physiological effects by blending it in cosmetics and other preparations, and can be said to be an epoch-making AsA derivative.

Stress -- Médecines alternativesIndex. décimale : 668.5 Parfums et cosmétiques Résumé : The positive effect of aromatherapy on humans has been known for a long time. The effect is essentially based on the stimulation of the olfactory receptors in the nose. Certain smells have a relaxing and stress-reducing effect. Recent research has shown that the skin also has olfactory receptors and even bitter receptors that can be activated with appropriate molecules. In the keratinocytes, differentiation and maturation are thus stimulated via an induced influx of calcium. Here we show how a cosmetic active ingredient with a pleasant fragrance profile both reduces stress, detected by measuring stress hormones, and positively influences the skin by activating bitter receptors.
