Electrochimie
Textiles et tissusIndex. décimale : 667.3 Teinture et impression des tissus Résumé : The technical performance of five selected commercial photochromic dyes applied by screen-printing on textiles was evaluated using a colour measurement methodology that has previously been established and validated. The results of wash fastness assessments were distinctly unusual. With the selected spirooxazine dyes, the degree of photocoloration increased with initial washing and decreased with subsequent washings, while the naphthopyrans behaved more normally, showing a consistent marginal decrease in photocoloration with repeated washing. An explanation is proposed consistent with scanning electron microscopy examination of the binder film degradation and with the structural differences between the dye classes. The dyes in this application showed limited photostability. The incorporation of ultraviolet absorbers was found to increase photostability only to an extent specific to particular ultraviolet absorber/dye combinations. However, the presence of the ultraviolet absorber led to a consistent reduction in the degree of photocoloration of the dyes. In contrast, the incorporation of hindered amine light stabilisers significantly enhanced the photostability of the dyes, providing an increase in resistance to photodegradation of up to fivefold.
Technique des plasmasIndex. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : In recent years, plasma technology has been successfully used in the conservation of cultural heritage. The removal of soot from historical bookbinding surfaces through a cold plasma cleaning technique is an important application. This study aims to test the efficiency of using atmospheric pressure cold plasma on cleaning and removing soot from historical leather bookbinding surfaces. Atmospheric pressure Dielectric Barrier Discharge (DBD) cold plasma in an oxygen environment was applied to modern leather samples that were contaminated with carbon and artificially aged. The results have been evaluated using several techniques including visual assessment, digital microscopy, Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) with (EDAX), Fourier Transform lnfrared Spectroscopy with Attenuated Total Reflection (FTIR-ATR), mechanical properties, and colour change by UV spectrophotometer. The results have revealed that, the best removal of a soot stain through DBD cold plasma was found at 17.35W plasma power and 2 minutes exposure time.

SurfactantsIndex. décimale : 667.1 Nettoyage Résumé : On 17Th and 18th March 2016, the annual lecture of the SEPAWA Specialist Group "Professional Cleaning & Care" was held in Rapperswil, Switzerland. The programme, which had the theme "Small But Powerful! — Raw Materials Make It Possible," explored the particular importance of raw materials, their requirements and their application from different angles. This year's event was attended by about 60 people. A total of eight lectures covered the theme comprehensively and encouraged attendees to think, discuss and act. As a multidisciplinary event, the meeting addressed not only its target group of potential users, but also other actors in the broader chemistry and cleaning sector. These include, for example, manufacturers, chemical formulators, suppliers, industrial companies, commercial cleaners, cleaning and hygiene specialists, authorities, educational establishments and other professionals and executives who are associated with professional cleaning and care. The aim of the event was to stimulate lively conversation about the limits of technically related disciplines. This contribution seeks, and achieves, improved mutual understanding and the transfer of knowledge. Note de contenu : Fig. 1. Enzymes increase the sustainibility profile

Produits nettoyantsIndex. décimale : 668.5 Parfums et cosmétiques Résumé : As our lifestyles become more manic and we find ourselves time-starved, we look for products that can offer us something extra. Clever and brave formulating has led to a host of new textural and functional products, breaking the conventional moulds and delivering results in new and interesting ways. Today's consumers are open to new ways of achieving their aesthetic and skin health goals, switching from foaming face washes to cleansing iols. This leap to new formats is further accelerated by social media, where access to YouTube and beauty blogs provides the opportunity to be trained in the benefits of these new, or sometimes old, technologies and rituals. This article looks at the recent evolution of traditional products and the claims and materials used. Note de contenu : - Wash
