Surfaces -- NettoyageIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : With the increasing use of tactile touch interface and high gloss finish surfaces in various market sectors, including packaging, automotive, appliances, consumer goods and teletronics, the need for an easy-to-clean (E2C) surface property is growing and posing a challenge to designers and coating formulators. As a consequence, investigation of these new functional surfaces has gained increasing interest in technical and scientific literature. Yet, the most effective solutions currently available are quite costly and, consequently, only used in high value components such as touch screen displays.
To overcome this high cost barrier, Cytec introduced its latest development for energy curable coatings, namely Ebecryl 8110 resin for consumer electronics components such as casings etc. This novel and patent-pending UV resin enables paint formulators to develop coatings that meet the overall coating performance requirement (hardness, adhesion, chemical resistance) as well as permanent easy fingerprint removal/easy-to-clean surface property.Note de contenu : - Effect of composition
- Effect of application conditions on E2C performance
- Robustness of the E2C property and benchmarking

Revêtements -- Séchage sous rayonnement ultravioletIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Formulating UV curable coating is an art for the formulator for decades and if the coating is pigmented, it becomes more complicated. Developing this UV curable pigmented system is a real challenge and developing it in a black color makes it more challenging.ihe correlation between black color and UV radiation is a complex phenomenon. Black is color which absorbs all the wavelengths and transmits none. Along with visible light, it also absorbs Ultraviolet light and hence, black pigment itself is major governing factor for curing of black coatings which cures by UV source. Development of novel photo initiator and advancement in Carbon black pigments has simplified this difficult task by providing further scope to the formulator for designing UV curable black coating. This paper is a scientific overview of the work done in the area of UV curable black coating development considering role of various oligomers, monomers and their functionalities, choice of photo-initiators based on their absorption spectra and introduction of suitable black pigment in optimized ratio.

ThermogravimétrieIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Two non-isocyanate polyurethanes (NIPUs) were used as reactive diluents for an alkyd to obtain eco-friendly new UV-curable alkyd-polyurethane coatings. A linseed-based alkyd resin was prepared and formulated with the reactive diluents (NIPUs) and free radical photoinitiator, and then UV-cured. NMRs were used to characterize the alkyd and NIPUs and glass transition temperature (Tg) of cured alkyd-polyurethanes were evaluated by using DSC. Further, spectroscopy and thermal stability of the coatings were evaluated by using ATR-IR spectroscopy and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), respectively. Moreover, coating properties such as pencil hardness, cross-cut adhesion, pull-off adhesion, impact resistance, and reverse impact resistance were also evaluated. It was found that crosslink density, pencil hardness, adhesion, and Tg were dependent and proportional to the amount of the NIPUs (reactive diluents) showing significant improvement in mechanical and thermal properties compared to the linseed-based alkyd resin.

ViscositéIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Epoxidized polybutadiene was evaluated as a reactive prepolymer for cationically curable photosensitive compositions. Various epoxy or vinyl ether functional reactive diluents were used as viscosity reducers. Compositions with an average content of 5 mmol.g−1 of polymerizable functions were submitted to viscosity measurements, and their reactivity under UV-irradiation was examined by UV and/or IR spectroscopy. The initiator photolysis can be monitored easily and adequate exposure times were determined by simple kinetic treatment. The polymerization of epoxy monomers was driven to high conversion (over 95%) provided that the film was submitted to a soft thermal post treatment. Coatings of high flexibility and showing good adhesion to aluminium, steel, and glass were obtained by adequate adjustment of the formulations composition. The content in reactive diluent was kept to a low level without loss of curing ability. Note de contenu : - EXPERIMENTAL : Materials - Equipment - Characterization of cured coatings
