Solutions de polymèreTags : Stress Diffusion Migration 'Polymer solution' 'Spectral elements' Index. décimale : 532.05 Mécanique des fluides et des liquides - Dynamique (cinétique et cinématique) Résumé : Numerical results are presented addressing the phenomenon of stress-induced polymer migration in flowing polymer solutions. The calculations refer to the Taylor-Couette device, consisting of two infinitely long concentric cylinders, the inner one of which remains stationary whereas the outer one is rotated at constant angular velocity. The underlying molecular model is a two-fluid Hamiltonian model, consisting of two components, one of which is viscoelastic and obeys the Oldroyd-B constitutive equation. The spectral collocation method is used to solve the full system of govering equations. At steady-state, the calculations demonstrate that the application of a constant shear stress in the Taylor-Couette device leads to substantial migration of polymer molecules from the outer to the inner cylinder in agreement with available experimental data. Future work will adress the time scale of the migration phenomena and a linear stability analysis of this highly inhomogeneous polymer concentration profile. Note de contenu : - Problem definition

Index. décimale : 677 Textiles Résumé : The microcapsules with the function of phase transition temperature were added to the spinning solution, and the nano-fibers with phase transition function were spun by electrospinning. These fibers were characterized by scanning electron microscopy, differential scanning calorimetry and thermogravimetric analyser. The results show : the fibers are flat and smooth and the diameter of fiber increases with the increase of the content of microcapsules; the fiber has a certain phase change function, but the phase change temperature and the phase change enthalpy have nothing to do with the content of the microcapsules ; the fiber has good thermal stability. Transition vitreuseIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : A series of copolymers of 2,2,2-trifluoroethyl methacrylate (FMA) and methyl acrylate (MA) with different copolymer compositions were synthesized by solution polymerization. The chemical structure of copolymers was characterized by fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), 1H NMR, and 19F NMR. The reactivity ratios for FMA (r1) and MA (r2) were found to be 1.83 and 0.31 by the Fineman–Ross method and 1.91 and 0.34 by the Kelen–Tudos method, respectively. The glass transition temperature of the copolymers decreased with increasing MA content and ranged from 77.5 to 13.4°C for a feed composition of 90 mol% MA monomer, while, according to water contact angle data, the hydrophilic properties of the copolymer coatings increased with increasing MA feed composition. Remarkably, when the feed composition of MA was 60 mol%, the glass transition temperature was reduced to 29.2°C, while the obtained copolymer exhibited comparable hydrophobic property to the PFMA homopolymer. ViscositéIndex. décimale : 668.1 Agents tensioactifs : savons, détergents Résumé : In this paper, we assesse the effects of polymer/surfactant interactions in a pigmented water-based dispersionusing rheology, so, it was noted that :
1. Higher levels of ethoxylation led to much lower disper-sion and ink viscosities, and minimisation of pseudo-plastic behaviour.
2. Higher levers of ethoxylation led to higher polymer solution viscosities.
3. In general, with the exception of the octylphenol ethoxylates, more hydrophobie polymers and surfactants decreased the acrylic solution polymer viscosities to a greater degree, possibly due to a screening effect and conformational changes in the polymer.
4. For a given hydrophobe, higher ethoxylation levels led to lower viscosity and elasticity and generally higher print strength in inks.
5. Difunctional surfactants can lead to bridging effects, increasing polymer solution viscosities as well as dispersion and ink viscosities.
6. Lower dispersion viscosities allow for higher pigment loadings during manufacture.
7. Extensional properties have to be considered in the future to fully understand what is occurring.
The interactions between polymers, surfactants and pigments can be useful or detrimental to the characteristics of a formulation depending on its end use. Effects on rheology, adsorption at pigment/vehicle interfaces, and surface tension are common. Formulating with surfactant/polymer complexes that have the ability to nnodify the rheology of the system or enhance adsorption at the pigment surface can provide synergistic benefits. These will lead to better printability and press performance.Note de contenu : - Polymer solutions
