RhéologieIndex. décimale : 532.05 Mécanique des fluides et des liquides - Dynamique (cinétique et cinématique) Résumé : There is increasing evidence that mechanoreception, pseudo-muscular actuation and analog computation can be implemented using polyelectrolyte gels and extrinsic polymer conductors, which posses mechanical and actuation properties analog to living matter. For example, tactile sensing by skin-analogs made of weakly ionized polymer gels has been reported. Ionized polymer gels, extrinsic conducting polymers and polycarbon phase have been analyzed in detail and discussed in view of possible applications in pseudo-muscular actuation technology.

Traîtements de surfaceIndex. décimale : 667.3 Teinture et impression des tissus Résumé : Cationic copolymer nanoparticles were used to modify Apocynum venetum/cotton blended fabrics. The modified blends were then dyed using CI Acid Red 14. In order to enhance the colour performance, the effects of combined pretreatment using nanoparticles and sodium hydroxide (NaOH) or carboxymethylcellulose (CMC) or plasma were investigated. The results show that combined pretreatment with NaOH and nanoparticles improved the dyeing effect. The optimum concentrations of NaOH and nanoparticles were 100 and 2 g l?1 respectively. In addition, using CMC to pretreat the fabrics could also improve the acid dyeing performance. However, the combination of plasma pretreatment and cationic nanoparticle modification produced the best colour performance for acid-dyed A. venetum/cotton blends. The dye exhaustion rate is highest (up to 95%) with plasma pretreatment. Scanning electron microscopy revealed that combined treatment with plasma and nanoparticles resulted in a far greater number of nanoparticles being deposited on the fibre surface. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy indicated that the pretreatments with different procedures significantly changed the chemical components of the fibre surfaces. The aromatic rings of acid dye molecules covered the fibre surfaces after plasma and nanoparticle pretreatment and acid dyeing. Note de contenu : - Colour properties of the dyes blends

TissésIndex. décimale : 667.3 Teinture et impression des tissus Résumé : Ecological nanosilver-based colours were biosynthesised from the heartwood of European yew (Taxus baccata) trees for the dyeing of flax woven fabrics through the implementation of in situ synthesis protocols. The produced lighter brown yellow to darker brown-yellow coloured nanosilver particles on flax woven fabrics were characterised in terms of morphological observations, metallic compositions, elemental mapping, chemical interactions, the presence of silver nanoparticle (AgNP) concentrations and colour characteristics with associated performances. The presence of AgNPs was clearly observed by morphological studies of the coloured substrates. Quantitative analysis of the products also confirmed the significant presence of AgNPs. The results demonstrate that the uniform dispersions and strong attachments of AgNPs in cellulosic flax woven fabrics are due to surface plasmon resonance characteristics. The incorporation of different concentrations of metallic AgNPs plays a significant role in producing versatile colour appearances on flax woven textiles with improved colour durability. The overall results offer new routes for sustainable structural colourants in the industrial dyeing of cellulosic materials. Teinture -- Fibres textilesIndex. décimale : 667.3 Teinture et impression des tissus Résumé : Increasing environmental pressures over the last few years have led to attention for non-biocide treatments in the wood protection field. The ε-caprolactone modification of wood by substitution or blocking of hydroxyl groups with hydrophobic poly(ε-caprolactone) (PCL) is one of the novel modification methods developed in recent years. In this study, ring-opening polymerization of ε-caprolactone in wood cell walls was evaluated by the 3rd and 6th re-use of recovered monomer and by oven-curing method. Spruce samples were modified by re-used ε-caprolactone and exposed to the natural weathering agents for 12 months. After weathering, the color change, surface roughness measurements, and macroscopic and ultra-microscopic observations revealed that the modified wood had better surface properties than reference wood. FT-IR analysis proved that PCL was on the weathered surface up to the 6th months, but very little amount was detected on the surfaces with a longer weathering period. The results clearly showed that the efficiency of PCL modification with re-use of the monomer solution was sufficient during the initial weathering periods, but efficiency was reduced after a prolonged exposure period.
