Tests d'efficacitéIndex. décimale : 667.3 Teinture et impression des tissus Résumé : To achieve textile dyeing and functional finishing in one process, a bleach-resistant reactive dye precursor to anti-bacterial N-halamine was synthesised by reacting a type of dichlorotriazine reactive dye with 4-amino-2,2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidine. The synthesised compound, which can be transformed to an N-halamine molecule by exposure to dilute bleach solution, was used to dye cotton fabrics. After exposure to a dilute sodium hypochlorite solution, dyed cotton fabrics showed excellent anti-bacterial properties against Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli O157:H7, facilitating a ca. 6-log reduction in bacteria within a short period of contact. Compared with the dichlorotriazine reactive dye, the reactive dye precursor demonstrated comparable dyeing properties including exhaustion and fixation values. No differences in rub fastness, wash fastness or bleach fastness were detected between fabrics dyed with, respectively, dichlorotriazine reactive dye and the reactive dye precursor to N-halamine. Teinture -- Fibres textilesIndex. décimale : 667.3 Teinture et impression des tissus Résumé : A novel polymeric black dye was synthesised by grafting yellow, orange, red, and blue reactive dyes onto polyvinylamine. Such a polymeric black dye takes the onus away from dyers to worry about the compatibility of individual dyes. The polymeric black dye was characterised by Fourier transform infrared, ultraviolet-visible, and nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy. The absorption of the polymeric black dye in aqueous solution was nearly constant across the wavelength range 400–700 nm. Compared with a black mixture of reactive dyes with low fixation on cotton, which was prepared by mixing yellow, orange, red, and blue reactive dyes, the polymeric black dye reached 99% fixation on cotton through the use of a crosslinking agent. The colorimetric properties of cotton dyed with the polymeric black dye and with the black mixture of reactive dyes showed that better blackness can be obtained by using the polymeric black dye. Analysis of the thermal stability and penetration ability of the polymeric black dye showed that the polymeric dye has high stability in the application and a uniform distributution in the cotton fabric.

Teinture -- Fibres textilesIndex. décimale : 667.3 Teinture et impression des tissus Résumé : Five new 7-alkyloxy-4-trifluoromethylcoumarin fluorescent dyes were synthesised using the Pechmann and Williamson etherification reactions. The structures of these coumarin dyes were characterised by Fourier Transform–infrared, proton and carbon nuclear magnetic resonance and mass spectra. One of the new coumarin compounds, 7-isopropyloxy-4-trifluoromethylcoumarin, was microencapsulated with melamine–formaldehyde as the shell material by in situ polymerisation. The microcapsules were characterised in terms of Fourier Transform–infrared spectrum, particle size distribution and scanning electron microscopy morphology. The cotton fabric finished with the microencapsulated coumarin dye showed strong fluorescence under ultraviolet light. The obtained oligomer was characterized by proton nuclear magnetic resonance (1H NMR) and Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopies. Gloss, cross-hatch, contact angle, and Taber abrasion tests were all used to investigate the film forming performance of the modified CAB oligomers on glass plates. The UV-cured free films of the synthesized oligomers were examined in terms of the mechanical tests. By using the synthesized CAB oligomers, coating formulations were prepared and applied onto cotton fabrics in order to make the cotton fabrics more durable in outdoor environments. The existence of the coating layer on the fabric surfaces was investigated by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The coated UV-cured fabrics were evaluated separately in terms of abrasion, thermal conductivity, and air and water vapor permeability properties. Results proved that the oligomer (50%-CAB) in which 50% of the hydroxyl groups of CAB were reacted with TDI–HEMA adduct showed the best mechanical properties with the highest tensile strength and modulus values. Considering the coated fabrics, the least deformation against abrasion, the highest air/water vapor permeability, and the best thermal conductivity were all recorded in 50%-CAB coated sample.
