SyntansIndex. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : Leather being a natural material finds a most prominent position in the fashion field. Leather goods, garments and products symbolize luxury and comfort. Manufacturing of leather products requires meeting the physical and chemical norms stipulated by the international agencies depending on the end products. Among the various physical properties, sewability is very important in deciding the quality of manufactured products. The present research discusses about the effect of syntan and fatliquor on leather properties. Experiments have been designed with varied concentration of melamine syntan along with 10% fatliquor. Various physical characterizations such as sewability, tensile strength, grain crack and microscopic images have been studied to elucidate the effect of syntan and fatliquor on leather properties. The experimental results show that the presence of fatliquor is a critical component to achieve better sewability properties in leather. Similar effect has been observed in the case of grain crack and tensile strength of the crust leathers. Prosaically, the experimental data have shown that the usage of fatliquor shows better sewability property.
Note de contenu : - Principe - Caractéristiques chromatographiques

Note de contenu : - Wettability based on IOB value and HLB

Tannage Résumé : Acrylic-acrylic long-chain ester amphiphilic copolymers are a class of leather retanning and fatliquoring materials with superior properties. However, these types of copolymers lack reactive groups and possess weak binding ability to organically-tanned leather. In this paper, a terpolymer Poly(AA-LA-GMA) containing reactive epoxy groups was prepared by emulsion copolymerisation of acrylic acid (AA), dodecyl acrylate (LA) and glycidyl methacrylate (GMA) monomers. The effect of the GMA content on its binding ability to leather fibres and its fatliquoring properties was investigated. The results showed that the introduction of the epoxy group can significantly improve the combination of copolymer with glutaraldehyde-tanned leather. When the content of GMA monomer reached 10% of the total monomer amount (mol), the dichloromethane extraction rate and fogging value of the fatliquored leather were reduced by about 34% and 53%, respectively. And the excellent binding ability improved the softness and tear strength of the fatliquored leather.
VerreIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Fluoroalkyl end-capped vinyltrimethoxysilane oligomer [RF–(CH2CHSi(OMe)3)n–RF; RF = fluoroalkyl group; n = 2, 3] can undergo the sol–gel reactions in the presence of a variety of phosphonic acid derivatives such as 1-hydroxyethylidene-1,1-diphosphonic acid, nitrilotris(methylene phosphonic acid), and 2-phosphonobutane-1,2,4-tricarboxylic acid under alkaline conditions to provide the corresponding fluorinated oligomeric silica/phosphonic acids nanocomposites. Interestingly, it was demonstrated that the modified glasses and filter papers treated with these obtained fluorinated nanocomposites can exhibit the superoleophobic/superhydrophilic and superoleophilic/superhydrophobic characteristics on their surfaces, respectively. More interestingly, the modified filter papers treated with these nanocomposites were applied to the separation of the mixture of oil and water. Note de contenu : - EXPERIMENTAL : Measurements
