Traction (mécanique)Index. décimale : 668.4 Plastiques, vinyles Résumé : On the premise that the overall structure and composition of the parts remain unchanged, the over-molding of self-reinforced polymer composites parts (OM-SRCs parts) prepared in this paper change the aggregation structure of the parts by combining multi-component sequential molding technology with micro-injection molding technology. Thus, it improves the comprehensive performance of the parts, and achieves the purpose of self-reinforcing. The morphological feature of self-reinforced parts during over-molding are obviously different from those formed by conventional injection molding, which also leads to differences in physical properties. In this study, two types of polypropylene parts of the same size (60 × 12 × 2 mm3) were prepared, and their micro-morphologies comparison were investigated by means of polarized light microscopy (PLM), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and wide-angle X-ray diffraction (WAXD). From the results, it was found that the tensile properties of OM-SRCs parts were improved by up to 9.46% compared with the conventional parts. Through PLM observation, it is found that the section shape of OM-SRCs parts perpendicular to the flow direction shows a double “skin-core” structure, resulting in the increase of the area ratio of skin layer to 24% (16% in conventional parts). SEM was carried out on the skin layer near the fusion position of the interface, and a highly oriented “shish-kebab” structure was observed. Through DSC and 1D-WAXD pattern analysis, it was found that the overall crystallinity of OM-SRCs parts decreased by 8.53% and 5.32% compared with the conventional parts, respectively. The 2D-WAXD pattern analysis showed that the molecular orientation degree of the skin layer of OM-SRCs parts increased by 15.65%. By means of the response surface method, the molecular orientation obtained was the decisive factor affecting the performance of OM-SRCs parts. By means of the least squares' minimization procedure, a dimensionless equation between the micro-morphologies and mechanical properties was established, which makes the “adjustability” of the sample performance be preliminarily realized. Index. décimale : 668.4 Plastiques, vinyles Résumé : It is well known in practice that the shape and dimensions of injected parts are highly dependent on the packing-holding stage. A major problem in semi-crystalline polymers is the prediction of the solidified layer, whose thickness has an important effect on shrinkage and warpage. We propose a pragmatic approach based on the concept of no-flow temperature. This temperature should be related to crystallization temperature, but the choice is not easy because it depends on cooling rate and pressure which are functions of time and position. The objective of the work is to evaluate the sensitivity of an injection molding computation to the no-flow temperature and to evaluate the relevance of its choice. The crystallization temperature of an isotactic polypropylene is determined as a function of cooling rate and pressure in laboratory experiments. The pressure dependence is measured using the original Cristapress cell. As a case study, we simulate the filling and post-filling of a plate mold using Rem3D, a 3D code for injection molding. Three no-flow temperatures and two sets of parameters for temperature dependence of viscosity are tested. Their respective influences on the pressure evolution are shown, and the crystallization temperature calculated a posteriori using the experimental material data is compared to the “arbitrary” no-flow temperature. Résistance des matériauxIndex. décimale : 668.4 Plastiques, vinyles Résumé : The cardanol grafted onto polypropylene (CAPP) was prepared by reactive extrusion with polypropylene (PP) and natural renewable cardanol, which could improve the inherent defects of PP such as chemical inertness and hydrophobicity. Moreover, the cardanol grafted onto PP could resolve the degradation of PP during the process of reactive extrusion, storage and application. In this paper, the yield strength, tensile strength, elongation at break of modified and unmodified PPs were tested during the aging process. A possible aging mechanim of PP and anti-aging mechanism of cardanol grafted onto PP were proposed. Results showed that the initiator dicumyl peroxide caused the degradation of PP chains during the aging processing. After being aged for 24 h, the yield strength CAPP0 decreased from 28 MPa to 15 MPa and the elongation at break reduced by 795%. CAPPs possessed outstanding anti-aging performance owing to the cross-linking and entanglement of the side chains of cardanol grafted onto PP. The yield strength, tensile strength and the elongation at break of CAPP5 changed lightly even when it was in long-term irradiation for 480 h. The CAPPs had better anti-aging properties than the mixture of PP and 5% of cardanol. CAPP containing 3% of cardanol could effectively prevent the degradation of the main chain polypropylene.
